The Gundam GP02A is a Blue-type Armored mobile suit best known for its AoE EX Skill, which hits all enemies for 2008% of its ATK. It is the strongest AoE EX Skill in the game, and can annihilate entire teams, or at least severely hurt them. As if the EX multiplier wasn't enough, it also receives a 200000 damage cap increase, 48% more EX damage, and up to 20% more stacking damage, making it truly a force to be reckoned with.

As an Armored unit, it also has some respectable defenses, with a 25% max HP buff, up to 45% more resistances, and a heal on guarding mechanic, though that last one will rarely trigger since it has nothing to improve its base guard rate, nor does its signature pilot.

A good defensive unit and an excellent AoE threat, the GP02A is a mighty unit that you'll come across often in Arena, given its status as an SS-tier pick and as one of the most popular mobile suits in the game. However, it has weaknesses and counters for you to exploit in order to consistently beat this juggernaut of a unit.

EX Skill Takes A While To Activate

The Gundam GP02A is like a ticking time bomb. It's completely reliant on its EX skill for damage, as its weapons don't really do much damage. Because it's so strong, to balance it out, its EX skill takes a while to activate.

A bomb will only harm you if it explodes, and the same thinking can be applied when fighting the GP02. The winning strategy to beat the GP02A is to take it out before it gets to use its EX skill. Many good players are aware of this, that's why a lot of GP02As are protected in the midline or backline despite their bulk and tankiness. Each time you see a GP02A in an opposing team, make sure you strategize accordingly and aim to take it down as fast as you can.

Not Nearly As Tanky As The Best Defensive MSs

While the GP02A is an Armored unit with some defensive skills, when it comes to tanking, it's not quite as good as the best defensive Armored units like the Penelope, The-O, and the Full Armor Gundam (Thunderbolt). This makes taking it out before it uses its EX skill a viable strategy, as it's tanky, but definitely easier to kill than the other mobile suits listed above.

Type Disadvantage Against Green-Type Mobile Suits

The GP02A is a Blue-type unit, so it suffers a type disadvantage against Green-type mobile suits. Units like the ZZ Gundam, Unicorn Gundam Perfectibility, and Nu Gundam (Green) pose a significant threat to the GP02A's safety, provided they're placed strategically to attack the GP02A first.

The Unicorn PF is an excellent mobile suit to bring along when facing a Gundam GP02A. It deals big critical damage and since it has a type advantage over the GP02A, can quickly deal with it before it uses its EX skill, provided that the two are of similar CPs or investments.

［M0089］ Char's Z'Gok

Char's Z'Gok counters the GP02A as it forces its entire team to focus only on Gundam-Type mobile suits first, which means that most, if not all of its opponents will be targetting the GP02A first, greatly reducing the chances of its EX skill going off.

The GP02A can counter the Z'Gok when the latter is on defense, as it can bait the enemy team and force them to attack it from the opposite corner while its non Gundam-Type allies attack it. However, when it's the GP02A on defense, the Z'Gok will have the upper hand for the reason we just discussed above.

While the ZZ Gundam is definitely more known as a PvE unit, it is a powerful DPS unit that can effectively deal with the GP02A, as it enjoys both a type and category advantage over it.
