The Zeta Gundam is one of Gundam U.C. Engage's most powerful and popular units. You will run into this powerful mobile suit often in PvP, so how do you counter it? Read on to learn about the Zeta Gundam, its weaknesses, and which mobile suits can beat this MS.

For a very long time, the Zeta Gundam dominated Arena as one of the highest DPS units in the game, capable of tearing through teams by spamming its EX skill rapidly, over and over again. This EX skill deals 520% of its ATK and bypasses defenses while dealing another 390% ATK bypassing defenses once more if the unit is inflicted with the Unavoidable debuff. This is extremely spammable because the Zeta Gundam has 4 skills that restore or improve the restoration of its EX gauge. It also receives 89% more beam damage after it uses its EX skill, so it deals a respectable amount of damage with its weapons as well. Despite these offensive capabilities, the Zeta Gundam has fallen short due to the emergence of the next generation of far more powerful DPS units.

While the Zeta Gundam was undoubtedly an offensive powerhouse, it now pales in comparison to the current DPS units with overloaded kits and an increased damage cap. Like many other mobile suits, the Zeta Gundam suffers from weaknesses and counters that can easily be exploited, allowing you to consistently beat the Zeta each time you encounter it.

Zeta Gundam Weaknesses

No Defense or Sustain

Unlike plenty of today's best Generic units, the Zeta Gundam sadly cannot defend itself that well, nor can it heal back the damage it receives on its own. This makes it much easier to take it down when compared to units with sustain or other defensive features like the Yellow Sazabi, Todesritter, and Magna Martell (Awaken). It's also still quite hard to take down in the sense that it definitely has the damage output to kill whatever you place in front of it, but you can always strategize accordingly and try to take it out by placing a tank in front of it and placing a flanking Purple-type to attack it from a different column while it's distracted.

That being said, the Zeta Gundam isn't really all that hard to take down.

Damage No Longer Holds Up

In a head-to-head battle against most modern DPS units, the Zeta Gundam will probably lose given how most DPS units of today have overloaded kits or extremely high damage numbers. When running a DPS unit, you'll want it dealing as much damage as possible, and the Zeta Gundam is now lacking in this regard.

Has Very Hard Counters

Plenty of mobile suits have counters, but few have hard counters that can absolutely ruin the other unit's chances of succeeding. The Zeta Gundam, suffers from the same issues all Newtype Machines have, with the presence of mobile suits designed to counter Newtype Machines. The most notable of these are the Todesritter, and the Full Armor Unicorn Gundam (NT-D). Other units like the Blue Destiny Unit-1, and Pale Rider, while they aren't very good in the meta anymore, are exceptional Sub MSs as they lend their anti-Newtype capabilities to their main MS.

The Todesritter is the game's premier Newtype counter, and will annihilate the Zeta the moment it touches it. FAUC NT-D is a Zeong-like AoE bombardment unit that deals extra damage to Newtype Machines. BD-1 serves as an MS with special targeting systems that makes it lock in on Newtype Machines first, and is also a great Sub MS thanks to it granting more damage against Newtype Machines. Pale Rider, while well past its prime, can be a good Sub MS too for the same reason BD-1 works so well.

Any well-invested Purple-type DPS unit can easily take out the Zeta Gundam, assuming they're not too low on the tier list, thanks to Purple and Yellow both being effective against the other. Because the Zeta doesn't have any defensive skills, it won't be able to endure many attacks.

The same can be said for any DPS unit in the SS and S-tier of our Arena Tier List, regardless of type, as these are all modern DPS units with powerful kits that the Zeta Gundam simply cannot compete with.
