What Kind of Character Are They? | ・Weapon skill inflicts multiple Atk/Def penalties, grants a guaranteed follow-up attack and two damage reduction effects. ・Exclusive C skill cleanses penalties of unit and nearby allies at the start of each phase, grants Def/Res bonuses to unit and nearby allies, and slows down foe's Special charges. |
Might: 14 Range: 1 Accelerates Special trigger (cooldown count-1). At start of combat, if unit's HP ≥ 25%, inflicts Atk/Def-X on foe (X = 50% of highest total bonuses among unit and allies within 3 spaces of unit +6), unit makes a guaranteed follow-up attack during combat, and reduces damage from attacks during combat and from area-of-effect Specials by 30%. At start of turn, if unit is adjacent to only beast or dragon allies or is not adjacent to any ally, unit transforms (otherwise, unit reverts). If unit transforms, grants Atk+2 to unit, inflicts Atk/Def-X on foe during combat (X = number of spaces from start position to end position of whoever initiated combat + 3; max 6), and also, if X ≥ 5, reduces damage from foe's first attack by 30% during combat. |
Cooldown Count = 4 Boosts damage dealt by 80% of unit’s Def. |
If unit or foe initiates combat after moving to a different space, grants bonus to unit's Atk/Def during combat = X + 6 (X = number of spaces moved by whoever initated combat; max 4.) If X ≥ 2, neutralizes unit's penalties to Atk/Def during combat. |
Inflicts Atk/Def-X on foe (X = 4 + number of 【Bonus】 effects active on foe; max 8, excludes stat bonuses) and neutralizes foe's bonuses to Atk/Def (from skills like Fortify, Rally, etc.) during combat. |
At start of player phase or enemy phase, if unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, neutralizes any 【Penalty】 that takes effect on unit or allies within 2 spaces of unit at this time. At start of turn, if unit is within 2 spaces of an ally, grants Def/Res+6 and 【Resonance: Shields】 to unit and allies within 2 spaces of unit for 1 turn. If unit is within 3 spaces of an ally, grants Def/Res+4 to unit and inflicts Special cooldown charge -1 on foe per attack during combat (only highest value applied; does not stack). |

◯ = Stat gains +4 with a superboon, ✕= Stat goes down by -4 with a superbane, - = No assets or flaws
See the IV Checker for All Units | Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs |
When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Freyr are +Atk and -Spd. Atk is a Superboon and boosts his already high Atk stat even further, up to base 50. This allows Freyr to deal damage on top of his supportive capabilities to ensure he isn't dead weight after he triggers Dream Deliverer.
Spd is a clear dump stat and should be the bane of choice.
We recommend +Atk when merging Freyr up to +10 to maximize his damage output.

Freyr's base kit is already good enough to perform his role as a support and bulky offense hybrid. Stacking Def will help him against the physical opponents he is likely to face as a melee unit.

Note: Stats bonuses from skills are not taken into account.
Freyr is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.
Freyr's exclusive Dream Horn inflicts Atk/Def penalties onto his foe during combat equal to 6 plus 50% of the highest total bonuses among unit and all allies within 3 spaces of unit. There is no cap to the Atk/Def penalty applied, allowing Freyr to completely neuter his opponents if set up properly.
Dream Horn also grants Freyr a guaranteed follow-up attack and 30% damage reduction on his foe's attacks and area-of-effect Specials.
Dream Horn also has the modern cavalry beast transformation conditions and effects which grant Freyr Atk+2, the Atk/Def Clash effect, and an additional 30% damge reduction on his foe's first attack. This damage reduction effect stacks multiplicatively with the original 30% damage reduction effect on Dream Horn, which would give Freyr a total of 51% damage reduction on his foe's first attack, and 30% on subsequent attacks.
Freyr's exclusive C skill Dream Deliverer is the main reason why he should be fielded on teams.
Dream Deliverer neutralizes all 【Penalty】 effects on himself and all allies within 2 spaces of Freyr at the start of each player phase and enemy phase.
This effect in particular is a direct counter to Elimine's Staff of the Saint, as it cleanses off 【False Start】 on himself and nearby allies, while also being immune to 【False Start】 itself as the effect triggers at start of player phase or enemy phase and not at start of turn.
Freyr is even an Anima Mythic, allowing him to be fielded on Defense teams to counter Elimine's presence in Astra season.
Defense teams that were shut down by Elimine have been revived by Freyr's presence. Catria Ball teams in particular will re-emerge as the top threatening Defense in Anima season once again.
Freyr can also be fielded to counter Embla's Severance effects, removing 【Undefended】 and 【Feud】 from Freyr and nearby allies. This allows Savior skills to trigger once again.
However, since Embla is a Dark Mythic and Freyr is an Anima Mythic, this counter strategy is only viable during Chaos season.
Dream Deliverer also grants a visible Def/Res+6 buff and 【Resonance: Shields】 to Freyr and nearby allies at the start of each turn, and grants Freyr Def/Res+4 and slows down his foe's Special charges in combat.
These effects improve his team's overall bulk, increasing their survival against aggressive foes in particular who rush in and defeat enemies quickly with their high damage output.
Freyr takes 1.5x damage from beast-effective weapons like Brave Eliwood's Nini's Ice Lance or Picnic Flora's Sæhrímnir, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
Freyr takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons like Thani or Binding Reginleif, and one blow from this type of weapon will deal significant damage. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!
