Are they meta defining?

Elimine is a powerful Astra Mythic hero that has become the top tier support healer, especially for Aether Raids offense during Astra seasons.

Between Staff of the Saint shutting down key skills that activate at the start of each turn and Holy Ground providing damage reduction and a small boost to her allies' bulk, she can fill multiple roles for different teams and remain relevant no matter what team composition or strategy you are using.

If you are running a tanking strategy with Flayn, Elimine fills her role completely and provides the skill shutdown effect as well. Tanking strategy teams can run Elimine in a Mythic slot and use the freed up regular slot for another hero that can aid the team further, such as another support or carry unit.

One advantage, however, that Flayn has over Elimine is a higher Atk stat.

Flayn can play aggressive and KO enemies if needed; Elimine has to drop Far Trace for Wrathful Staff in order to do so.

While we have our usual suspects for Wind season, we want to highlight a sure new menace that will soon grace the Arena - Valentine's Chrom!

This unit comes endowed with so many skills and with a combination of To Change Fate!, Deadeye, Time's Pulse 3, and a flying and tank-busting weapon, he's pretty much told Legendary Chrom to step aside.

He also comes with a Duo Skill that works like a Unity skill such as Atk/Spd Unity but for all stats, and persists until the buff is removed.

This means that Valentine's Chrom can maximize his Duo Skill by having it work through both the player phase and the enemy phase!

To top it all off, he is currently the highest scoring unit in Arena, tied with New Year Dagr. His Duel effect makes him score as a 195 BST unit, but due to To Change Fate!'s 500 SP cost and how Arena scoring is calculated, Valentine's Chrom instead scores equally with 200 BST units!

A menace indeed. We'll be seeing you in the Arena, Chrom.

How to Counter

Both Micaiah and Byleth have the disadvantage of being very fragile units, so good counters would be physical damage, melee units such as Ninja Shamir and Legendary Sigurd himself.

As for Sigurd, ranged units that can break his damage reduction such as those that use Deadeye are recommended. Amusingly enough, Micaiah and Byleth are both good counters for him!

For Valentine's Chrom, his relatively low Res makes him an easy target for mages, such as Legendary Byleth (F), Reinhardt, or Ninja Corrin (F).

Brave Hector is also a good candidate, as he has color advantage, great bulk, the ability to counterattack ranged foes, and negates Chrom's armor-effectiveness through the effect of his refined Maltet.

The release of the new Mythic hero Elimine has thrown a wrench into Anima defense teams and made Astra season easier for offense teams.

Elimine's unique weapon Staff of the Saint has the unique effect of stopping all skills that trigger at the start of each turn for foes in cardinal directions upon winning a Res check. This shuts down a lot of powerful effects, completely rendering most Aether Raids defense strategies useless.

There are multiple Aether Raids relevant skills that are just shut down by Staff of the Saint. Among the most notable ones are:

In addition to Elimine possessing a powerful weapon that lowers the difficulty of Aether Raids matches, she also has a unique C skill, Holy Ground, that grants Def/Res+4 and 30% damage reduction to nearby allies.

This skill greatly enhances tanking strategies such as Save Balls. Armored units like Brave Hector and Ascended Fjorm greatly appreciate the damage reduction, and the small Def/Res boost is the gravy on top.

As for Plumeria, her presence in the currently ongoing Hero Fest banner means it will be easier for players to acquire merges and increase their lift gain during Astra/Anima weeks.

It will take a higher total score to obtain the best rewards as a result.

How to Counter

Elimine's Staff of the Saint may be powerful, but it still relies on winning a Res check to trigger its effects.

You can stick Res boosting skills like Fort. Def/Res 3 on units you think Elimine will target in order to protect yourself from Staff of the Saint.

Take note that these skills have to boost visible Res and not be in-combat bonuses. The Phantom Res 3 sacred seal works as well.

Alternatively, you can run multiples of key units in different lanes to force Elimine to make a tough decision. An example is fielding a Bridal Catria, a Legendary Sigurd, and a Duma, all in different lanes.

Elimine can only shut down one of the three, leaving the other two to perform at peak efficiency.

You can also double-up on heroes or skills that keep the team viable while protecting yourself from Staff of the Saint.

An example is having two fliers with Ground Orders 3, fielding two Bridal Catrias, etc.
