When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for New Year Váli are +Spd and -Def. Váli is among the fastest heroes in the game with her base 48 Spd, raised to 51 after equipping Sister Hagoita, and raised to 54 after a boon.
Even though +Atk is a superboon and is also a good boon to take, we still recommend +Spd due to the numerous speedy units in the game with base 48-49 Spd. New Year Váli can prevent their follow-up attacks with enough Spd investment.
New Year Váli's Def and Res are equally not as good as her other IVs. We recommend -Def as it is slightly lower, but either of these will be fine as a bane and it will not impact any of Váli's matchups. She will be reliant on Invincible Sister for survival anyway, so the bane does not matter as long as it does not hinder an offensive stat.

How to Use, Explanation
New Year Váli's base kit is already good enough to have a great offensive presence while also functioning in enemy phase. Other purely offensive skills like Flared Sparrow can be used, but we opted for mixed phase usability.

ResplendentNew Year Váli is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
New Year Váli Strengths
Sister Hagoita is loaded with multiple effects
Sister Hagoita grants Atk/Spd+5 and Distant Counter to all allies within 3 rows and 3 columns.
Additionally, for the first ally in that area that receives lethal damage, they survive with 1 HP, are healed for 40 HP and granted Atk/Spd 【Great Talent】 +10 after combat. This effect only triggers once per map and does not stack with other similar effects.
Sister Hagoita also has built-in Canto, Iote's Shield, Spd+3, and Distant Counter, making it quite the loaded weapon.
In combat, Sister Hagoita grants Váli Atk/Spd/Def/Res+15, bonus true damage equal to 15 + total Atk/Spd 【Great Talent】, +15 bonus true damage reduction on first attack, a Dull All effect, and a Null Follow-Up effect.
Sister Hagoita is one of the more powerful weapons in the entire game, and it helps Váli immensely by improving her offense, defense, and support all at once.
Invincible Sister pre-charges itself and grants another action
New Year Váli retains her exclusive Special Invincible Sister which pre-charges itself at the start of player and enemy phase while also healing Váli 40 HP, ensuring it is active for each turn.
When Invincible Sister triggers, it grants Váli a Miracle effect, and then reduces all incoming damage from the foe in combat to zero once per turn.
After that combat, Invincible Sister pre-charges itself again and heals Váli for another 40 HP, ensuring it is active on the next combat.
Invincible Sister also grants Váli Atk/Spd【Great Talent】+10, making her stronger on the next combat, and if Váli initiated combat, it even grants her an extra action too!
The zero damage effect ensures that Váli survives combat once no matter what, making her very difficult to take down due to requiring two combats.
Finally, Váli's first follow-up attack in each combat deals bonus true damage equal to 50% of her foe's Atk plus the total value of Atk/Spd 【Great Talent】 stacked on Váli, reduces damage from her foe's first attack by 40%, and grants Váli Special cooldown count -2 before her foe's first attack.
All in all, Invincible Sister is one of the best Specials in the game and makes Váli very difficult to bring down despite her frail stats.
New Year Váli Weaknesses
Reliant on Invincible Sister
Similar to her base version, New Year Váli's defensive stats are quite lacking, leaving her vulnerable to strong attackers.
She will be reliant on Invincible Sister to survive attacks from these foes. When Invincible Sister's Miracle effect is not active, New Year Váli is highly likely to fall on the foe's follow-up attack
Additionally, Invincible Sister can be countered with area-of-effect damage as long as New Year Váli's HP is reduced to 1 before combat begins. This ensures that Invincible Sister does not trigger!
