Trait Fruits—How to Change IVs

When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.

+Spd/-Res

We recommend a +Spd/-Res IV for Nifl. Her Spd is a superboon and she will benefit greatly from the increased Spd for her combat potential. Her HP is a superbane and her Res isn't significant enough to warrant investment, so we recommend taking her Res as a bane.

+Atk for a +10 Merge

We recommend taking +Atk as your boon of choice when building a +10 merged Nifl. Her Spd should be high enough to avoid follow-up attacks from speedy enemies, thus boosting her Atk is the best use of her additional stats through her boon.

How to Use, Explanation

This build functions as an initial attacker for an AR Defense team, applying the Flash status to the enemy team and allowing Nifl's allies to safely engage their opponents. Not using an assist skill manipulates the AI to have Nifl engage first. Windsweep increases the chances of Nifl surviving combat, thereby allowing an allied refresher unit to give Nifl another action and have her reach the backline.

How to Use, Explanation

Nifl is a close magical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.

Nifl Strengths

Frostbite Breath applies the Flash status to an AoE

Frostbite Breath is an amazing weapon for combat, debuffing enemies with Atk/Spd/Def/Res-5 and applying the Flash status to both the enemy and all foes within 2 spaces. Nifl doesn't need to survive to apply the Flash status; as long as she attacks in combat, the status is applied to the AoE. This makes Nifl one of the best initiation units in the entire game, allowing the rest of her team to safely follow up on her initial attack and clear the map of enemies.

Domain of Ice provides damage reduction to Nifl and her nearby allies

Domain of Ice is a unique skill to Nifl. It grants Spd/Res+4 and a 30% damage reduction effect to allies within 2 spaces, and to Nifl herself if she is within 2 spaces of an ally. This greatly helps her team survive high damaging attacks, and it helps her survive her foe's first attack so she can retaliate and apply the Flash status debuff from her weapon as well!

Nifl Weaknesses

Weak to Dragon Effective Weapons

Nifl takes 1.5x damage from dragon-effective weapons like Falchion, Divine Breath, and Ífingr. While Nifl has damage reduction in her kit, an attack from a dragon-effective weapon such as these will deal a lot of damage, if not knock out Nifl entirely.

Weak to Cavalry Effective Weapons

Nifl also takes 1.5x damage from cavalry-effective weapons such as the wolf tomes (Keen Rauðrwolf+, Keen Blárwolf+, and Keen Gronnwolf+) and several unique weapons like Thani, Light of Dawn, and Bunny Fang. Make sure you know what weapons you are up against before hopping too far into the line of battle!

Prone to Trenches

Nifl's cavalry movement of 3 is amazing, but it leaves her unable to cross trenches. Her kit prefers her to attack first in order for her allies to take advantage of the Flash debuff, but trenches may get in the way and force her to take an alternate route to her enemies. Be wary of movement restrictions before engaging the enemies!
