When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
+Spd/-Res
The best IVs for Maria are +Spd and -Res. A higher Spd stat allows Maria to prevent follow-up attacks against her increasing her survivability. This is great for her team because Maria's presence as a support is very important. It is unwise to lower her Def even further and since she can afford a bane in Res anyway, it is the best bane you can take.

How to Use, Explanation
A Gravity+ set for Maria. Make sure to get the Dazzling upgrade too! Double Savage Blow 3 is taken to deal big AoE damage after combat. The A slot is very flexible, but make sure to take something that increases the damage Maria can deal. Miracle is taken to protect her while she is in the front of battle.

Maria Roles, Strengths, and Weaknesses
Maria Roles
Maria is a ranged magic attacker (range = 2). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage she deals will be equivalent to her Atk minus the foe's Res stat.
Maria Strengths
Convert enemy bonuses into penalties
Panic+ convers bonuses into penalties on target unit and all other foes within 2 spaces of said unit. This lowers enemy units' overall performance. This in turn directly improves Maria and her team's ability to swoop in and get knock-outs on the enemy team!
This staff is a great counter to blade tome units like Tharja and Nino whose playstyle is to stack as much bonuses as possible to improve their damage.
Can Easily Heal Distant Allies
Maria move 2 squares a turn as she is an infantry unit that. She can learn Physic+, which can heal allies 2 tiles away. Therefore, Maria can heal allies up to 4 squares away from her starting position making her a great healer in some situations.
Can buff her allies through Fortify Res 3!
Maria's skill Fortify Res will increase her allies' resistance stat. Simply starting next to Maria will insure a rather decent Res buff of +4 to boost your defense against those mages and dragons.

Low Def
As mentioned in the IV section, Maria has a very mediocre Def stat. This makes her very vulnerable even against less powerful physical units. Please be mindful of her positioning in relation to units that can make quick work of her.
