Unlike the Iron Shield, Wooden Shield and its upgrades can withstand against electricity. This is recommended to use when you are exploring Lanayru Desert.
The downside of Wooden Shields is that it will burn in contact with fire, or standing on extremely hot places. Your shield will rapidly burn and disintegrate if it does, leaving you defenseless.
It is recommended to use Iron Shields while exploring Eldin Volcano.
