Empty Bottle #1: Talk to Luv at the Bazaar

After Zelda disappears, head to the Potion Shop at the Bazaar on Skyloft. Speak with Luv and she will give you the first Empty Bottle for free.

Empty Bottle #2: Find the Treasure Chest inside the Sealed Grounds

After meeting the old woman at the Sealed Grounds, find the small chest in the area and open it. Inside is a bottle filled with Revitalizing Potion.

Empty Bottle #3: Find Orielle and Complete the Side Quest

You can obtain the third Empty Bottle as a reward for completing Orielle's sidequest.

On Skyloft, talk to Parrow near the Light Tower. After speaking with him, head to the sky and look at the southwestern part of the map to go to circular island east of Fun Fun Island.

Find Orielle in the island and talk to her. Return to Parrow and talk to him to obtain some Mushroom Spores. Deliver the spores to heal Orielle's bird to complete the sidequest and keep the Empty Bottle.

Empty Bottle #4: Find the Treasure Chest in the Fire Sanctuary

After obtaining the Mogma Mitts in the Fire Sanctuary, go to the room with the single Magmanos and defeat it. Defeating this enemy drains the magma in the room, allowing you to access the ground level.

Head to the new path down the hall and open the chest on the balcony to obtain the fourth Empty Bottle.

Empty Bottle #5: Activate the Goddess Cube at the Volcano Summit

Map Location	How to Get
Volcano Summit	Inside the Volcano Summit, go inside a room just to the right. Use the floating platforms to get closer to the Goddess Cube and deliver a Skyward Strike.
Thunderhead	Fly to the island southwest of the Isle of Songs. Use the Mogma Mitts to enter the underground cavern and climb out of the hole. Climb up the vines to reach the Goddess Chest.

While inside the Thunderhead, you can find a Goddess Chest that contains the fifth Empty Bottle. You need to activate the Goddess Cube in the cave leading to the Fire Sanctuary at Volcano Summit to open it.

To reach the Goddess Chest, you need to burrow through a hole to reach a room with a set of vines. Climb up the vines to reach the chest.

What are Empty Bottles?

Items that Store a Variety of Objects

Much like in previous Zelda games, Empty Bottles are used to store a variety of items. There are a total of five Empty Bottles that you can find. In Skyward Sword, you can use these bottles to hold fairies and different kinds of potions.

There are a total of 5 Empty Bottles available in this game. You can easily obtain the first three bottles early in the story, while the last two can be found later on.

Item	How to Get
Air Potion	Purchase from the Bazaar for 20 Rupees. Effects: Slows down the depletion of oxygen gauge for 3 minutes.
Air Potion +	・Air Potion ・Skyloft Mantis x2 ・Sky Stag Beetle x2 ・Lanayru Ant x2 Effects: Gives you infinite oxygen for 3 minutes.
Fairy	Use an Empty Bottle to catch a Fairy. Effects: Restores six hearts, as well as revives Link if he is defeated.
Glittering Spores	Slash a glittery mushroom and use an Empty Bottle to scoop the spores. Effects: Stuns enemies. It can also be used to turn hearts into fairies and change a Rupee's value.
Guardian Potion	Purchase from the Bazaar for 200 Rupees. Effects: Halves any damage you receive for three minutes.
Guardian Potion +	・Guardian Potion ・Starry Firefly x3 ・Faron Grasshopper x1 ・Eldin Roller x2 ・Blessed Butterfly x3 Effects: Gives you immunity to all damage for three minutes.
Heart Potion	Purchase from the Bazaar for 20 Rupees. Effects: Restores eight hearts.
Heart Potion +	・Heart Potion ・Woodland Rhino Beetle x1 ・Volcanic Ladybug x1 ・Blessed Butterfly x3 Effects: Restores all hearts.
Heart Potion ++	・Heart Potion + ・Sand Cicada x1 ・Eldin Roller x1 ・Deku Hornet x1 ・Blessed Butterfly x3 Effects: Contains two servings and restores all hearts.
Mushroom Spores	Slash any mushroom and use an Empty Bottle to scoop up the spores. Effects: Used to heal Orielle's Loftwing.
Pumpkin Soup	Purchase from the Pumpkin Landing for 10 Rupees. Effects: Restores eight hearts. If the soup turns cold, it only restores four hearts.
Revitalizing Potion	Purchase from the Bazaar for 50 Rupees. Effects: Restores four hearts and fully replenishes the shield gauge.
Revitalizing Potion +	・Revitalizing Potion ・Woodland Rhino Beetle x2 ・Skyloft Mantis x2 ・Deku Hornet x3 Effects: Restores eight hearts and fully replenishes the shield gauge.

Sacred Water	Use an Empty Bottle to scoop up the water from the waterfalls behind Skyview Spring inside Skyview Temple. Effects: Heals Faron, allowing you to enter the Ancient Cistern.
Stamina Potion	Purchase from the Bazaar for 50 Rupees. Effects: Slows down the depletion of stamina gauge for 3 minutes.
Stamina Potion +	・Stamina Potion ・Volcanic Ladybug x3 ・Sky Stag Beetle x2 ・Gerudo Dragonfly x2 ・Faron Grasshopper x1 Effects: Gives you infinite stamina for 3 minutes.
Water	Use an Empty Bottle to scoop up water in any stream. Effects: Allows you to remove the fire gates at the Volcano Summit.
