This is a guide on how to dive from your Loftwing and in water in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn how to dive using the motion controls and button-only controls, as well as what item you need to unlock this feature.

To dive from the ground, hold the B Button to run towards a ledge to dive automatically.
In Skyloft, look for the wooden ramps surrounding the floating city and run off from there.
While free-falling, press the Down on the D-Pad to call your Loftwing.
Loftwing Controls and How to Fly
While flying on your Loftwing, press the ZR Button to dive. You can also hold the ZL Button to change the view to look at the area from below.
To dive into the water, look for a ledge and hold down the B Button to run towards it. Depending on the height of the ledge, Link may perform a diving motion into the water or a free-fall automatically.
You need to acquire the Water Dragon's Scale to dive underwater and reach new areas. Complete the Silent Realm trial in the Faron Woods to obtain this item.
How to Get the Water Dragon's Scale
Once you have the item, hold down the A Button to swim. Use the right Joy-Con, or the left thumbstick for button-only controls, to move around underwater.
