This is a guide on how to save in The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD for the Nintendo Switch. Read on to learn more how to save manually, as well as game's new Auto Save feature!
To save your progress, use the Bird Statues that can be found in the overworld and in dungeons. Saving via the Bird Statue takes up one manual save slot in the Quest Logs screen. In addition, you can also Save and Quit the game to take you back to the main menu.
Along with saving your game, the statues are also used as a gateway to The Sky. Note that you cannot use the statue to return to The Sky while inside a dungeon. Instead, the statue transports you out of the dungeon.
A feature exclusive in Skyward Sword HD is the auto save feature. As seen in the Quality of Life trailer, the Quest Logs screen shows a green auto-save slot above the three manual save slots.
Skyward Sword HD New Features and Changes
The game auto saves when a player approaches a Bird Statue, signalled by a saving indicator on the bottom-right of the screen. Note that everytime you approach one, your auto save slot overwrites, so make sure you also manually save just as often.
In addition, entering or exiting a building, room, or a dungeon will trigger the game's auto save. Use this to your advantage when adventuring a specific dungeon or area!
