The best Silkshot is crafted at Mount Fay, as it provides the best damage and allows Hornet to stay in the air in Hollow Knight: Silksong. See the effects of the Silkshot, and where to find the Ruined Tool.

The Silkshot players craft at Mount Fay easily outclasses the other two variants in terms of damage and utility. While this version can only be found much later in the game, and with greater difficulty than that of the Twelfth Architect and Forge Daughter, the benefit is worth the wait.
For starters, the Mount Fay Silkshot fires silk in a piercing line, dealing massive damage to all enemies caught in the line. Additionally, the charging of the tool will suspend Hornet in the air. Although this sounds like a downside, this can actually allow Hornet to avoid attacks better while dealing damage.
How to Get Silkshot (Mount Fay)
If players are in dire need of a red tool however, they can opt for the Silkshot crafted by the Twelfth Architect. This variant of the Silkshot shoots three bullets in rapid succession, which spread to enemies close behind them.
While the last two bullets are angled upwards, these can still hit enemies right in front of you and deal decent damage to groups. This also pushes Hornet back quite a bit, which can mess with player's spacing.
How to Get Silkshot (Twelfth Architect)

To craft the silkshot, players must acquire the Ruined Tool in Bilewater. From Sinners Road, head right to the gate and open it using the Needolin. Proceed through the tunnel and pick up the Ruined Tool in the upper area.
Because there is only one Ruined Tool, crafting any version of the Silkshot is irreversible. This is why despite its difficulty, it is still recommended to hold off on crafting the Silkshot until players reach Mount Fay.
