Rite of Rebirth is a Wayfarer wish in Hollow Knight: Silksong. Read on to see a full walkthrough of completing the side quest, rewards, how to start, and its objectives.

How to Unlock Rite of Rebirth

Complete Rite of the Pollip

Greyroot Location

Players will need to complete the Rite of the Pollip in order to acces Rite of Rebirth. While these quests are not linked, completing Rite of the Pollip is required to progress Greyroot's quest.

Unlock the Clawline

Players will need the clawline to navigate certain platforming sections, and unlock areas. This can be obtained at the Underworks.

How to Get Clawline

Obtain the Twisted Bud

The first step to progressing the quest is by obtaining the Twisted Bud in Bilewater. This zone in Bilewater, however, cannot be easily accessed by using its regular entrance from either Sinner's Road or Putrified Ducts.

To unlock the upper left zone of the Whispering Vaults, you'll have to enter the zone from a secret pathway from the Whispering Vault.

Enter the hidden path
From Whispering Vaults, head into the secret passageway in the upper right corner.

Cross the gap
Cross the gap and fall down the hole with the latch.

Navigate the traps
Use the Clawline to navigate through the traps.

Avoid the spikes
Drift down the hole, avoiding the spikes.

Head right to enter Bilewater
Upon landing in the infected water, head right to access Bilewater.

Fall down the second hole
Fall down the hole, and head left upon landing in the infected water.

Go to the lower left and break the wall
Once you reach the room with enemies, go down to the lower left section and break the breakable wall. Be careful as the enemies in Bilewater explode on death.

Pogo across the gap and climb
Pogo across the gap and defeat the enemies in the way. Climb up the wall as soon as you reach the end.

Pogo across the bulbs
Once you reach the top, pogo across the explosive bulbs to reach another breakable wall. The Twisted Bud is right behind it.

Talk to Greyroot to Initiate The Quest

Greyroot Location

Once you have obtained the Twisted Bud, head to Greyroot, who can be found in Shellwood. Talk to her while possessing the Twisted Bud to initiate the Rite of Rebirth quest.

You Lose Access to Charms, Bind, and Changing Crests

You will lose access to your Charms, Healing, and ability to change crests upon quest acceptance. Be sure that you can access the lift in Greymoor to be able to complete the quest without much difficulty.

Twisted Bud is Needed for the Cursed Ending

If you manage to complete the game while cursed with the Twisted Bud parasite, you'll be able to get one of the game's unique endings, the Cursed Ending. This means that you'll need to defeat Grand Mother Silk while impaired by the bud's curse before completing Rite of Rebirth.

How to Get All Endings

Save Can Be Reverted Pre-Act 3 to Backtrack and Complete the Wish

Save Revert

If you have already reached Act 3 without managing to obtain the Cursed Ending, you can head to your save file from the title screen and choose the rewind button to revert your file to previous key milestones in the game. This will let you rewind your file to Act 2, before completing the Rite of Rebirth wish and attempt to get the Cursed Ending.

Escape The Tunnel You Wake Up to in Shellwood

Exit the Chapel of the Witch

Once you get infected by the parasite, you'll wake up in a tunnel hidden inside Shellwood. Escape it by heading left, then head south to reach The Marrow. From here, you can head back to Bellhart and get access to the Bell Beast Station.

Head to Yarnaby in Greymoor

Once you gain access to the Bell Beast Station, make your way to Greymoor and use the lift to head to the upper left corner of Greymoor. In here, you'll find the Yarnaby, the doctor that can cure your ailment. Accept her quest, Infestation Operation, to obtain the means to proceed with the operation.

Buy Steel Spines from Benjin and Crull

Sinner

To complete Infestation Operation, players will need to travel to Sinner's Road in order to get Steel Spines from Benjin and Crull. It is recommended to unlock the lift in Halfway Home, and find the Bench at Sinner's Road before taking on this wish.

Return to Yarnaby After Completing Infestation Operation

Once you have completed the Infestation Operation, return to Yarnaby and proceed with the surgery to remove the curse.

Unlocks the Twisted Child Ending

Twisted Child Ending

When Hornet is cursed with the Twisted bud, defeating Grand Mother Silk will allow players to unlock the Twisted Child Ending. This is one of several endings that players can see when completing the game.

How to Get All Endings

Unlocks Infested Operation and Witch Crest

Yarnaby

Getting cursed in Rite of Rebirth is a prerequisite to the wish Infestation Operation. This allows you to get rid of the curse, letting you access your tools.

Completing this quest also rewards players with the Witch Crest. This crest allows Hornet to deal damage through binding.
