Steel Soul Mode is a permanent death game mode unlocked after beating Hollow Knight: Silksong once or activating the konami code. See all the features of Steel Soul Mode and find out how to unlock it here!
List of Contents

Similar to the original Hollow Knight's Steel Soul Mode, this difficulty mode will have permadeath, requiring players to complete the game without dying to clear.
Steel Soul Mode features small tweaks and slight changes to the game. Contrary to Hollow Knight's Steel Soul Mode that only featured permadeath, Silksong's Steel Soul Mode will likely feature added mechanics, new enemy and boss movesets, and possible map changes for a unique and fresh experience.
Challenge Silk Soul Mode. Once you conquer the game, test your skills in an all new mode that spins the game into a unique and challenging experience.

Based on Team Cherry's video about Silksong's features, Steel Soul Mode was previously named "Silk Soul" and was described as a mode that offers a "challenging experience where you can test your skills".
As there is no Silk Soul Mode unlocked in the post-game and no mention of the mode in the Achievements list, it is safe to assume that it was renamed to "Steel Soul" in the official release.
Steel Soul Mode is a game mode in Hollow Knight: Silksong, unlocked after beating the game once. After finishing the main story, the Steel Soul Mode will be available when starting a new save file.

Players can also access Steel Soul Mode without beating the game by entering the following Code in the Extras: Up, Down, Up, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right. If players enter the code correctly, a brief white flash should occur afterwards, indicating that Steel Soul Mode has been unlocked.

The most notable difference between Classic and Steel Soul is that you can't respawn in Steel Soul mode. If Hornet dies, the game ends, and you can no longer use the save file.
When Hornet dies in Steel Soul mode, your save file will be broken, preventing you from reloading it.
One trick you can do when Hornet's HP is critically low is save, quit the game, then reload the save file. Once you get back to the game, Hornet will return to the last bench used with full HP.
You can also equip Fractured Mask as a safety tool. Once the Fractured Mask breaks, you can save and quit the game.
Doing this trick prevents your save file from getting broken and allows you to continue progressing in the Steel Soul mode.
You'll have access to a Steel Soul-exclusive wish called A Vassal Lost. You can start this wish by speaking to Steel Seer Zi, who is an NPC in Blasted Steps. You'll also have an exclusive boss fight with Summoned Saviour as part of the wish.

In Steel Soul mode, you'll have the Shell Satchel tool instead of the Dead Bug's Purse, since the Dead Bug's Purse only has an effect if you die. The Shell Satchel instead increases the number of crafted tools in your pouch.

Since Silkeaters no longer serve a use, as dying ends the game instead of creating a cocoon, they can instead be sold to Skynx, which is a Steel Soul-exclusive merchant that replaced Styx, in exchange for Rosaries.
