The Witch Crest is a crest you can only obtain after doing certain quests and reaching Act 2 in Hollow Knight: Silksong. See how to get the Witch Crest, its best build, movesets, and tool slots in this guide!

How to Get Witch Crest

Complete the Rite of the Pollip Quest

Getting the Witch Crest requires you to do a series of quests, and you must have progressed to Act 2 to get it. To start, you need to complete the Rite of Pollip quest first from Greyroot of Shellwood.
You can do this quest as early as Act 1, so make sure you do this as it also grants you the Pollip Pouch reward for your tools.
Progress Until a Certain Point in Act 2
After completing the Pollip Quest, you'll have to progress through Act 2 until you've defeated the Cogwork Dancers and have unlocked the Whispering Vaults. This is important, as it's the only way to access the Twisted Bud in the secret area of Bilewater.
Try to obtain the Faydown Cloak and the Clawline as well as these abilities, which will help you a lot in Bilewater and in the part after accepting the Rite of Rebirth quest.

Obtain the Twisted Bud in Bilewater

Once you've unlocked the Whispering Vaults, make your way down to the Bilewater entrance. It'll be a long vertical drop with a pool of muckmaggots waiting at the bottom. Make your way down a section and follow the path to the left. There'll be a bunch of breakable walls, but if you keep going, you'll eventually find the Twisted Bud.
If you want to get out of that place as soon as you get the Twisted Bud, you can exit the game and reload the save file. You should be able to see Hornet on the Bench and with your Rosaries still intact.
Complete the Rite of Rebirth
Once you've gotten the Twisted Bud, head to Shellwood and talk with Greyroot. This will bring up the prompt if you want to promise the Rite of Rebirth wish.
Note that after accepting the quest, you will be locked out of your Crest and will be unable to use your tools, perform Silk Bind to heal, or change your crest.

Once you've gotten yourself infected, you'll have to find a way to get out of the Chapel of the Witch, and the exit should lead you to the Bone Marrow. After you're out of the area, make your way to Yarnaby in the upper left part of Greymoor.
You can head back to Bone Bottom and fast travel to Greymoor. Make your way up and then speak to Yarnaby to initiate another quest called Infestation Operation.

Get the Steel Spines in Sinner's Road

After initiating the quest, you'll have to make your way to the Sinner's Road to talk with Crull and Benjin. Make sure you have 260 Rosaries to get the Steel Spine.
Complete the Quest to Get Witch Crest
After getting the Steel Spine, head back to Yarnaby. Give her the Steel Spines, and it should trigger a cutscene that will complete the quest. Once you're done, you'll be granted the Witch Crest as your reward.

Witch Crest's playstyle revolves around building up its Silk with its fast attacks and spamming its Silk Bind to deal a ton of damage against enemies.
This build focuses on allowing the Crest to store more silk with Spool Extender, having less charge time to Silk Bind with Injector Band, and for Hornet to deal more damage during burst with Claw Mirrors.
To cover for its weakness of not being able to heal unless you go in and do a Silk Bind burst, it's recommended to have Plasmium Phial equipped and use it to have more masks to allow you to jump in and use Silk Bind to restore HP without much risk of dying.

Anonymous 3 monthsI did this quest at act 3 after completing crull and Benji's quest and the spines were lying on the ground, so I paid nothing.
