Users can play Silksong without playing Hollow Knight 1. Silksong features an entirely different character in an entirely different setting, and the little correlation between the two games allow players to enjoy Silksong without needing to experience the original Hollow Knight game.

While Hornet appeared in the original game as an antagonist, the game did not have a large focus on her story and motives in the story. This allows players to dive into Silksong without needing the context present in the previous game.
