Savage Beastfly is a boss located in Hunter's March and Far Fields in Hollow Knight: Silksong. See a loadout you can use to beat Savage Beastfly, its attack patterns, and rewards here!

Thread Storm is required for this fight since it deals the most damage to both the boss and the bugs it summons. The small arena where the boss is fought makes the Warding Bell a good choice to equip as it creates a shield while healing. We also recommend equipping the Fractured Mask to give Hornet one extra health mask for the fight.
For offensive tools, both the Curve Claw and Sting Shard are good choices for this fight as they excel at taking out flying enemies.
The Reaper Crest is a well-balanced midgame crest you can use for this fight. In addition to changing the regular slash to a wider range crescent slash, it will generate Silk Orbs when you hit enemies after healing. Picking up these orbs will fill your Silk Gauge faster, which means more opportunities to use your silk skills.
If you are later in the game, you can consider using the Architect Crest or the Witch Crest for this fight.
The Architect Crest makes use of 3 Red Tool slots, but in exchange it removes your Silk Skill. Although you are unable to use your skill, this set-up allows you to maximize your tools and increase your damage uptime. This works great for fights in limited spaces like that of the Savage Beastfly.
The Witch Crest is one of the best crests in the late game. Its moveset is quick and precise, while also having a longer range. This crest can also regenerate Silk faster and does a powerful AoE when you bind. However, if your bind does not hit any enemies, you will not restore any masks.

For the Far Fields fight, we recommend removing one of the tools above and then equipping Magma Bells since Savage Beastfly's summons shoot magma. With the Magma Bell tool equipped, your damage taken from flame and magma will be reduced.

Chapel of the Beast in Hunter's March
The Savage Beastlfly is an optional boss located in the Chapel of the Beast in Hunter's March which requires the Drifter's Cloak to access.
Best Fought After Getting the Grip Claw
Although you can fight the Savage Beastfly as soon as you reach Hunter's March, we recommend waiting until you get the Clip Grip so that you have a better way of evading the boss and its summoned bugs.
You can get the Clip Grip in the area after defeating Sister Splinter in Shellwood.
Found in Fourth Chorus' Boss Area
After accepting the Wish called Grand Hunt Savage Beastfly, which will be available from the Bellhart Wish Board after beating the Savage Beastfly in the Chapel and Cogwork Dancers (Act 2) , you can find another Savage Beastfly in the exact spot where Fourth Chorus spawned in Far Fields!
Do note that beating the one in the Chapel of the Beast will not complete the Grand Hunt wish. You specifically need to beat the Savage Beastfly in Far Fields.

Stay on the Ground When it Charges
Stay on the ground when the Savage Beastfly is doing its charge attack and stick close to the edge of the arena so that the boss hits the wall when it dashes towards you. This will give you a few seconds to hit the boss before it flies up back into the middle of the stage.
Forcing the boss to hit the wall prevents it from turning during its dash attack, which may hit you while you're jumping over it!
Punish the Boss When Its Attacking
You can hit the boss every time it attacks and is a good way to deal as much damage as possible to avoid prolonging the fight.
Pogo over the boss when it does its charge attack and sidestep when it does it slam attack so you can get a few hits when it slams down into the ground.
Defeat the Summoned Bugs
Focus on defeating the summoned bugs since there appears to be no limit on how many the boss can summon. Use Thread Storm to defeat them as fast as possible to avoid getting overwhelmed!
Bait the Boss into Using its Slam Attack
The boss can instantly kill its summoned bugs if they get hit by the boss' slam attack. When the boss is about to use its slam attack, run towards the enemy so that the boss can kill them in one hit.
Bugs Shoot Magma (Far Fields Boss Fight)
Savage Beastfly's summons during the Far Fields Boss Fight for the Grand Hunt Wish is different compared to the one in the Chapel of the Beast since they shoot magma.
Avoid Prolonging the Battle
The Savage Beastfly is a DPS race since at a certain point, the boss will continue to summon bugs until it's almost impossible to evade all of the enemies.
Save your Thread Storm to deal burst damage against the boss and make sure you get enough hits when it goes prone so that you can bring the boss down as fast as possible.
Savage Beastfly Attack Patterns
Charge Attack
The Savage Beastfly will charge at Hornet. The boss will dash depending on Hornet's elevation, meaning it can dash through the air or close to the ground depending on Hornet's last position.
Slam Attack
The Savage Beastfly will hover above Hornet and quickly slam down the ground.
Note: The boss can use this move repeatedly in quick succession, and can kill summoned bugs in one hit.
Bug Summon
The Savage Beastfly will roar, causing a cage to fall on the ground and release a random bug.
Note: There appears to be no limit how many bugs the boss can summon.
Savage Beastfly Rewards
Beast Crest
Defeating the Savage Beastfly unlocks the Beast Crest which you can equip to change the Hornet's attack-style into savage slashes.

BobMcBurger 3 monthsThink I encountered a problem. I defeated this boss, after too many tries and went on my way. The door to the place closes, I assume permanently, as you leave. The problem in question relates to the grant hunt task. I promised this after I defeated Savage Beastfly. Since the door is now shut, I cannot complete the mission. Because the item I need to collect is inside, but the closed door blocks my access.
