Skull Tyrant is a boss located in The Marrow and Bone Bottom in Hollow Knight: Silksong. See a loadout you can use to beat Skull Tyrant, its attack patterns, and rewards in this guide!

Silkspear is a good skill for this fight since the boss stays mostly on the ground, while the Longpin is the best offensive tool for the fight since it can pierce the boss' armor and deal full damage.
Finally, the Reaper Crest causes silk bundles to spawn when you hit the boss after healing which can refill the threadspool faster and get your silk skill up.
If you haven't gotten the Reaper's Crest, the original Hunter's Crest is still a good match-up for this fight. Although its range is shorter than the Reaper Crest, its attacks are faster, which allows you to get more strikes in.

The Skull Tyrant is a boss located in an area in the Marrow that requires the Clip Grip to access, and is required to beat to complete the Terrible Tyrant quest.

The Skull Tyrant will only appear after accepting The Terrible Tyrant Quest at Bone Bottom's Quest Board.
The quest only appears after getting the Clip Grip in the area after defeating Sister Splinter in Shellwood.

A second Skull Tyrant will appear in Bone Bottom, killing an NPC and destroying the bench. We're currently confirming what triggers this event.
This boss Skull Tyrant has the same moves as the one in The Marrow, though the arena where its fought is noticeably bigger.
| Skull Tyrant Boss Fight Tips |
|---|
|
|

The Skull Tyrant only takes damage from hits to the head or its back and is immune to pogo attacks due to its heavy armor.
Fortunately, the boss tends to take a few seconds after charging to use another attack which gives you plenty of time to use regular attacks or Silkspear against it.
The Longpin is the only offensive tool that deals full damage against the boss due its armor-piercing properties, and it's very easy to hit the boss due to its large size.
Other tools will simply bounce off the boss or deal partial damage, so make sure to get the Longpin from Shellwood before fighting the boss.

The boss arena is fairly large and gives you enough room to dash away from all of Skull Tyrant's attacks, including its falling boulders attack.
If you get hit by the boss, simply run away from it so you can recover health safely.
The Skull Tyrant will charge at Hornet. This attack is slow but has a large hitbox, and you can evade it by jumping over the boss.
The Skill Tyrant will jump and attempt to land at Hornet's last position, causing boulders to fall where it landed.
The boss can use this move twice in quick succession, but you can simply dash away to avoid getting hit by the falling boulders.
Attack Description
The Skull Tyrant will roar and stomp on the ground which causes multiple boulders to fall throughout the entire stage.
The boulders tend to fall slightly far away from the boss, so stay close to it when it does this attack or dash to the opposite side of the room to evade it.
Attack Description

Defeating the boss causes it to drop the Crown Fragment which is a key item you'll need to return to the Bone Bottom Quest Board to receive the Heavy Rosary Necklace reward from turning in The Terrible Tyrant quest.

Not sure about this. I've rescued Tipp, and Bone Bottom is fine. Might be because I traveled there via the bell beast though

Managed to trigger the second Boss Tyrant, in Act I Got Wall Climb. Killed Boss Tyrant. Went to Bone Bottom. Wish Promised. Wish Granted. Bought the mask in the shop. I THINK you need to buy out the shop & finish all wishes. These conditions seem logical considering what's about to happen. Went to the bench. Jumpscare. Messed up, felt like I was so close. Now hoping he'll come back.
