The Moss Mother is the first boss you will encounter in Hollow Knight: Silksong. The Moss Mother is located at the Moss Grotto!

Double Moss Mother Map Location

The double Moss Mother boss, which is optional, can be encountered when reaching the west end portion of the Weavenest Atla map. You can reach the area using the Needolin Skill on the east portion of Moss Grotto.

Pogo Off the Moss Mother As She Dives

Dodge Past the Moss Mother

When you see the Moss Mother point her stinger at Hornet, jump right as she dives. Afterwards, pogo on top of her by aiming your slash downwards. The small enclosed arena makes it difficult to move around, so it's better to anticipate her attack and pogo over her when you see her preparing to dive.

Look Out for Dust Falling From the Ceiling

Watch Out for the Dust

After the Moss Mother slams against the ceiling, you can see dust falling from above where debris is going to fall shortly after. Dash away from the spots with the falling dust to avoid getting hit.

Jump and Slash to Attack the Moss Mother

Jump and Slash Upwards

Hornet's regular attacks is unable to reach the Moss Mother, so you will need to jump up and slash upwards in order to hit her.

Prioritize Defeating Minions From the Ceiling

Prioritize the Minions
One of the key differences of this fight from the previous one is that you'll be fighting two Moss Mothers. You will need to focus on two targets during that fight, so eliminate the minions from the ceiling attack to avoid distractions.

You can make dodging more manageable when the minions are taken out first, given that they can overcrowd the area when left unattended.

Glide Away From Dive Attacks

You can also try using Drifter's Cloak so that you can time your attacks better in midair after you've dodged her dive attacks.

Moss Mother Attack Patterns

Dive

Moss Mother points her stinger at Hornet then performs a small dive.

Ceiling Attack

Moss Mother flies up and hits the ceiling, causing debris and moss enemies to fall into the arena.

Ceiling Attack With Minions

This is a variation of the ceiling attack, in which Moss Mother also rains down minions after the debris has fallen. This attack can be encountered during the Double Moss Mother boss fight.

Theres a second location with two moss mothers if you go through the weaver door underneath Bone Bottom and sneak through a hole in the wall left of the bench, thought that may be handy for the hunters journal
