The Pinstress is a fast moving boss, and can be difficult to hit while in the air. In fights like these, it is good to bring skills like Pale Nails that can hone on enemies, or the Cross Stitch to counter moves that you cannot dodge. You can equip the Volt Filament to charge your Silk Skills with electricity and deal extra damage.
To have an easier time hitting the Pinstress while she is mid-air, bring the Cogfly and the Threefold Pin. Cogflies, like the Pale Nails, have a honing ability and will continuously attack the enemy until it is destroyed. Meanwhile, the Threefold Pin can be thrown at three angles, making it difficult for enemies to dodge.
Coat your tools in poison using the Pollip Pouch. With the Pollip Pouch equipped, your tools become even more lethal, and can inflict poison damage that will hurt the enemy without being hit.
We also recommend bringing the Magnetite Dice to give you breathing room if you don't manage to dodge by letting you tank hits without any damage. However, keep in mind that this effect happens at random.
The Reaper Crest's slow but stronger moveset will be very effective during this fight. The crescent slash in particular has a wider coverage and can make landing hits a lot easier.
The Architect Crest is another option if you want to get the most value out of the tools. This crest removes the slot for the Silk Skill and replaces it with an additional Red Tool slot.
The Architect Crest can also repair tools without needing to sit on the bench so if you run out of tools midfight, you can easily craft on the spot. This is especially useful to carry if you want to maximize on using Cogflies and the Threefold Pins.
If you are later in the game, you may also want to consider equipping the Witch Crest. Its attack speed is even faster than the Reaper Crest, and its moveset gives you enough range to maneuver away from projectiles and attacks. However, this comes at the cost of removing your Yellow Tool in exchange for an additional Blue Tool slot.

On a Platform in Mount Fay
The Pinstress can be fought near the top of Mount Fey after accepting the Wayfarer Wish Fatal Resolve on the Bellhart wishboard. You can also get this wish by going to her house in the Blasted Steps.

Use Skills and Tools to Attack in the Air
It's hard to land a hit on the Pinstress while she is mid-air. Not only can she float out of reach, but jumping into the air leaves you with less space to maneuver around her attacks.
It is safer to attack her using your tools and skills like the Cogfly or the Pale Nails while she is floating.
Hit Pinstress When She is Close to the Ground
When she is closer to the ground, or if you find her on the ground itself, use this as your chance to strike with your needle.
Move Away When She is Charging Up
When you see the Pinstress glowing, move away from her immediately. She is about to unleash a large cross-stitch AoE.
Pinstress Attack Patterns
Pin Strike
The Pinstress throws three pins at the same time, angled at different directions. She can also use this attack while in the air.
Dash
The Pinstress dashes back and forth across the platform.
Lunge then Dash
While in the air, the Pinstress lunges down towards Hornet, then dashes across the platform.
Cross Stitch
The Pinstress charges up Silk for a short period of time, then unleashes a cross stich AoE.
Pinstress Rewards
Pin Badge
The Pin Badge is a Blue tool that you can equip on your crest. Having it equipped reduces the time it takes to charge up your Needle Strike.
