Generally, the tools equipped here mainly focus on dealing consecutive damage per second during the fight to actively stagger the Grand Mother Silk!
Flintslate is a solid tool to use, as it is recommended to fully focus and buff up your needle attacks during this fight. Additionally, you can slot in a Cogfly to keep your damage uptime during moments where you need to focus on dodging.
Injector Band is necessary to equip, as Grand Mother Silk will not give you a moment of reprieve, and you will often need to heal during her attack strings. Claw Mirror is included as an additional means of sneaking even damage, even while getting hit.
For the Yellow Tools, you can equip anything, as it is only for utility. However, consider equipping the Magnetite Dice to have an off-chance to negate damage from any of Grand Mother Silk's attacks.
Due to this fight's emphasis on aerial combat that requires as much precision as possible, the Witch Crest should be one of your best bets. This crest has a quick moveset and generates silk faster than other crests, so it allows for a more aggressive playstyle while maintaining maneuverability.
The Reaper Crest is another possible option. This crest's Pogo Jump allows you to easily hit the needles while maintaining general safety. Furthermore, it allows a balanced mix of all Tools.

Grand Mother Silk is considered to be the final boss of Act 2 where she is situated in the top of The Cradle. You can reach her arena by doing a platforming sequence to reach the top of the Cogwork Core.
A quarter of the battle against Grand Mother Silk is going or getting back to her arena. Follow the path showcased in the video above to quickly and safely reach the arena!

Offense is the best defense against the Grand Mother Silk as she has thresholds where she can be staggered, allowing you to use your abilities or heal when necessary.
Additionally, the main issue with the fight against Grand Mother Silk is the visibility of her needle attacks. With an offensive playstyle that always has you on top of the boss, you will always have sight of where you need to dodge!
If you are beginning to be comfortable fighting Grand Mother Silk, a possible strategy is to use her active or stuck needles to Pogo Jump. Doing so gives you more air time, mobility, and offensive options!

Grand Mother Silk's movement limitation can be determined by the way the silk is manipulated. For example, if four silk threads sprout up, the hazard will be the Rockfall. However, if the silk threads come from below and start quivering, it will be the Risen Spear.

The Twisted Bud turns Hornet's moveset into a weaker version of the Witch Crest, prevents the use of tools and silk skills, and also prevents you from healing! This means it's important to get as many needle upgrades and health masks for the fight so you can deal as much damage as possible and survive her attacks.
You should get acquainted fighting with just basic attacks since the Twisted Bud prevents access to the crests you've acquired and equipped throughout your progress.
Start mashing down the attack button once the cutscene for the boss fight starts, as you can instantly get some hits before the fight starts. The hits might not offer much, but dealing any damage you can helps speed up the battle.
Dodge the needle attacks from Grand Mother Silk, especially the attacks that dashes horizontally. Jump towards the gaps that become available as they dash through the area, and try to become spatially aware of where the needles are during the fight.
Silk attacks from the boss deal 3 damage when the attack is received. Stay on the ground once her silk attack starts, then carefully jump and float to an available gap when they appear.
When you've managed to stun Grand Mother Silk, unleash 3 attacks while on the ground and deal at least 3 attacks when airborne. The boss gives no contact damage, so dish out as much damage as possible.
Charge your needle when phase 2 begins. Once Grand Mother Silk appears, unleash the attack to get a charged hit towards the boss.
The spikes that appear in the area can be removed if you attack them twice. This can help give you more ground coverage when trying to attack the boss or dodge from its attacks.

|---|---|
| Phase 1 | Phase 2 |
| Variation | Video |
|---|---|
| Basic Variation | She will alternate a vertical and horizontal needle attack in quick succession. Dodge by going through the wide gap of each attack. |
| Two Horizontals | She will use two horizontal needle attacks from both sides. You will have to jump in the middle at the exact time to dodge. |
| Full Vertical | Grand Mother Silk will do a sound cue and spawn one row of vertical needles, following up with one swipe. To dodge, you must first jump to avoid the swipe, and then get between the thin gap of two needles. |
Grand Mother Silk's main mode of attack will be her frequent use of needles to skewer Hornet. She has multiple variations that she uses to mix up and keep you on your toes!
Grand Mother Silk will scream, and then spread silk threads all over the arena, continuing to have this in her rotation until Phase 2. Failing to dodge will allow Grand Mother Silk to grab Hornet and ravage her, dealing three damage in the process.
During the first phase, she regularly switches between using one or two silk grabs, but in the second phase, she will use solely the two-time variation. To dodge reliably, it is recommended to stay on the ground and only jump if needed!
Upon successfully beating Grand Mother Silk, she will fall from her. A rumbling occurs, and rocks will fall in the middle of the arena. Afterwards, the two sides will also have rocks fall. To dodge, simply go from the sides and then back to the middle to stay healthy for the second phase.
In the second phase, Grand Mother Silk changes up her basic needle attack and now does three attacks in succession instead of two. She often uses this in conjunction with the Rockfall attack to limit your range of movement.
She mixes these three attacks, but it is always alternating between attacks. For example, if Grand Mother Silk starts its attack from the top, the third attack will always end from the top. This will also be the case when she starts the attack from the side.
Grand Mother Silk will use silk threads to collapse the roof, occasionally limiting the area Hornet can access during her attacks.
These rocks will deal continuous damage as long as you are in the vicinity, so always be vigilant. The main tell for this attack is if four silk threads sprout from below!
Grand Mother Silk will also use her silk threads to unleash hidden spears from the floor that can damage Hornet if touched.
This attack is used to limit your ground movement, further incentivizing precision dodging her needle attacks. The main tell for this attack is if two silk threads come from above!

Grand Mother Silk could be considered the final boss, but that’s up to your interpretation, especially if you have the Snarled Silk ending (Which, to be fair, isn’t really a ending, it’s more of a cutscene, Sister of the Void ending is the true ending. (I was gonna post the ending on Lost Lace but someone else posted it already) She’s still a great boss though!
