Warframe is coming to the Switch 2, coinciding with the release of The Shadowgrapher update. The developers revealed that this update will introduce a new 4v1 survival mode, the 64th frame Follie, and a series of quality-of-life changes.
Warframe Switch 2 Edition and The Shadowgrapher Update Launching Together
Releasing Globally on March 25
Warframe has announced a Nintendo Switch 2 version releasing this March 25, along with its upcoming update, The Shadowgrapher. While the sci-fi action shooter can be played on the console via backwards compatibility using its Switch 1 version, this edition promises a host of new graphical and performance enhancements.
Speaking with Eurogamer last July 2025, Digital Extremes CEO Steve Sinclair expressed their desire to take full advantage of the Switch 2’s technical capabilities and new features. Sinclair shared that, while the team was eager to "really push it to its limits" and "see what it can do," they did not have access to the Switch 2 dev kit, which they needed to optimize the game and fully utilize the console’s power.

Over eight months later, Warframe is finally releasing a dedicated Switch 2 version, fully utilizing the console’s specs this time. The enhanced version will have the following features:
⚫︎ 1080p resolution and 60 FPS
⚫︎ DLSS support
⚫︎ Sun Shadows and enhanced decals support in docked mode
⚫︎ High shader quality and faster loading times
⚫︎ Improved audio quality and higher resolution textures
⚫︎ Volumetric lighting
⚫︎ Joy-Con 2 mouse support
In celebration of this new release, players who log in from March 15 to April 15 can also receive the Ambimanus Pack, which includes the Vericres Warfan weapon, the Akomeogi Warfan weapon skin, Slicing Feathers mod, and more.
The Shadowgrapher’s 4v1 Survival Game Mode and Follie

Alongside the release of the Switch 2 version, Warframe will be releasing a major update, The Shadowgrapher, which is set to add a new 4v1 survival horror game mode called Follie’s Hunt. This can be accessed after completing the Chains of Harrow Quest and entering the painting in Vesper Relay in Venus.
This new game mode has four players collect paint and bring it to three canvases with unfinished paintings, while being pursued by the painter-themed Frame, Follie. Upon finishing the artworks, the winners will receive the rotational rewards. However, each finished painting progressively lowers Follie’s cooldowns and raises her aggression, making her difficult to face.

Follie herself will also be added as the 64th playable Warframe, and though her kit is still subject to change, the developers revealed a few of her core abilities. She can coat enemies in ink and slow their movement, emerge at an aimed location, draw items like RPGs and explosive barrels to life, paint an effigy to absorb damage received, and tie nearby enemies to floating balloons before crashing them to the ground.
The Sfumato helmet, Follie’s signature beam rifle, has the added effect of killing an enemy if they have low health and are doused in ink. Using Alternate Fire will splash enemies in a particular area with ink and create a puddle that will continue to affect others that pass through it.

In addition to all the new content coming to The Shadowgrapher update, it will also include quality-of-life changes like the addition of speed-up mechanics to Survival, adjustments to Excavators to have higher survivability, reworks to the Cold Status and Arctic Eximus, and more.
Clans are getting a major overhaul and new social features. Extra resources will be sent to the vault for building and research, matchmaking can be set to clanmates-only, weekly initiatives will reward cooperation with other members, and more.
With Warframe launching on March 25, 2026, for the Nintendo Switch 2, both new and returning players can experience The Shadowgrapher update with better graphics and smoother gameplay.
