Defeat Monsters in Each Area
Battling enemies in every area is the most basic way to gain EXP. Focus on clearing groups of monsters and don’t skip areas, as even low-level mobs add up quickly to help raise your party’s levels.
Defeat Menacing and Vicious Monsters
Menacing monsters are enshrouded, powerful enemies that appear stronger than their usual counteparts.
Defeating them will reward you with a monster heart and a significant EXP boost. Once they are beaten, they will no longer spawn in the game.

Tweak Your Settings to Receive More EXP
From the Difficulty Level options in the System Settings, you can tweak EXP, proficiency, gold earned, monster strength, and damage dealt, giving you either a faster leveling pace or a more relaxed grind depending on your preference.
Best Difficulty Settings and Differences
Farm Metal Slimes
Metal Slimes give tons of EXP but they only appear as rare bonus enemies as they won’t show up in the overworld. Instead, they have a chance to join the enemy lineup when you initiate combat using a field strike on regular enemies.
Metal Slime Locations and Farming Guide
Equip the Metal Slime Heart
Equipping the Metal Slime monster hear will boost your EXP gained by 20%. The Metal Slime heart is included in the Jam-Packed Swag Bag! DLC content which is included in the Digital Deluxe Edition of the game!
Best Locations to Farm EXP

| Ballymolloy Region (Overworld) | Rec. Level: 1-5 ・Maeve will join you so you can get help defeating monsters. ・Earn enough gold to buy weapons in Ballymolloy. |
| The Tower (Past) | Rec. Level: 5-10 ・Get Thorn Whip from the Cactiball enemies. ・Has a nearby Angel Statue, so you can restore HP/MP after battle. |
| The Ocean | Rec. Level: 10 onwards ・4 to 5 enemies appear in one battle. ・If enemies are too tough, consider changing the difficulty. |
Ballymolloy Region (Overworld)
This area is ideal for leveling from levels 1 to 5, especially after Maeve joins your party.
Her strength helps you take on enemies safely, and farming here also allows you to stock up on gold to purchase better weapons in Ballymolloy before heading into the Rainbow Mines and The Tower.
The Tower (Past)
Level up from 5 to 10 efficiently in the Tower located in Ballymolloy’s past. Enemies here are stronger than in the overworld, and the Golem boss can be tackled around level 6 to 7.
Use this spot to quickly boost your levels before progressing further.
Get Thorn Whip From Cactiballs
The Cactiball enemies that appear in the Tower have a rare drop of the Thorn Whip. This is Maribel's strongest weapon in the early game so consider defeating and farming Cactiballs to get this.
The Sea
After completing Ballymolloy and returning to the present world, it is recommended to level up in the sea while aboard the ship . The monsters in the sea appear in groups and grant significant EXP.
Because these monsters are strong, switching to Easy difficulty is recommended if you want a safe and steady grind.
