Differences Between Switch 1 and Switch 2

Is There a Switch 2 Upgrade Pack?

As of writing, there is no Switch 2 Upgrade available for Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined.

The Switch 1 and Switch 2 Versions of DQ7 are treated as separate game titles, meaning you must buy them separately.

Purely Graphical Improvements on Switch 2

DQ7 Switch 2 Differences

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined for the Switch 2 will have significant Graphical improvements, and performance boosts compared to the Switch 1 version, due to hardware compatibility.

As stated in the official FAQ, there will be no changes to the Story or gameplay between the two versions.

Switch 1 Version Can be Played on Switch 2

Players who own the Switch 1 Version can still play and launch the game on their Switch 2, similar to other titles.

This, however, does not work the other way around, and players who own the Switch 2 Version cannot play the Switch 2 Version on a Nintendo Switch 1

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined for Switch and Switch 2 are treated as separate game titles, and will appear both in the eShop and in your Library as separate games.

Make sure to purchase the correct version depending on the console you own!

Download Codes for in-game bonus items are exclusive to each Switch Version.

Players who have redeem codes for the Switch 1 Version can only redeem it with a DQ7 Switch 1 Version, and vice versa.

Save Data Bonuses are Exclusive to Each Switch Version

Save Data

Players who have save data from Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD Remake can only redeem save data bonuses on the same version.

If you have a Dragon Quest 1 & 2 Switch 1 Version, you can only redeem the save data bonus on the Switch 1 version of DQ7.
