To reduce the overall length of the game, several scenarios that were only loosely connected to the main plot were adjusted in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. These storylines are no longer required for progression and have instead been turned into optional content.
Once the Grey Stone Tablet becomes available in the Stone Tablet Room, these scenarios can be tackled at any time, allowing players to focus on the main story first without missing out entirely.

The Haven (or Immigrant Town in the PS1 version) was a lengthy side feature in the original game where players could recruit NPCs from across the world to populate a developing settlement. As more residents moved in, the town would gradually expand, unlocking new facilities and events.
This entire system has been removed in the Reimagined version, as it required frequent backtracking and long-term management that significantly slowed down progression.

Monster Meadows (or Monster Park in the PS1 version) was an optional feature that allowed players to send certain defeated monsters to live in a dedicated area, where they could be viewed roaming freely. Over time, the area could be expanded, turning it into a kind of monster collection showcase.
In Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined, Monster Meadows has been cut completely.

This optional content, which gave grades and rankings for player performance in different scenarios, has been cut. The removal reduces repetitive tasks while keeping key challenges intact.

Traditional Casinos found in the original game have also been removed. However, the Lucky Panel minigame still exists, though it is now accessed through a different method rather than a dedicated casino location.

A brand-new Arena feature has been added in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined. Here, players can challenge increasingly powerful enemies and earn valuable rewards for advancing through matches.
This mode is geared toward late-game play, with some battles featuring especially tough opponents, making it a good test of optimized party builds.

The Reimagined version introduces expanded difficulty and gameplay settings. Players can freely adjust enemy strength, EXP gain, gold rewards, and other combat-related parameters.

Party members can now equip two vocations at once, unlocking new skill combos and battle strategies. The Monster Master vocation replaces the old Monster Masher system, letting players summon monsters rather than only using their skills.

Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined introduces a variety of quality-of-life improvements that enhance the overall gameplay experience. The story has been slightly streamlined for smoother pacing, Kiefer returns as a party member, and visual elements such as character models and environments have been updated.
