Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined has 6 playable characters, each with their own strengths and weaknesses. This allows players to craft their ideal party composition, along with having multiple Vocations available to be used.

Reduced to 5 Characters Later On

After the events of the Roamer Encampment questline, Kiefer will leave the party and he will no longer be playable for the entirety of the game.

Kiefer returns as a much older version of himself later on, and will only join the party briefly as a guest recruit.
