How to Check Enemy Weaknesses

Check Icons on Monsters When Targeting

Icon Description
Thumbs UpThumbs Up Deals increased damage and has a higher chance to inflict status ailments
Thumbs DownThumbs Down Deals reduced damage and has a lower chance to inflict status ailments
X X Deals no damage and cannot inflict status ailments

You’ll see these icons appear as soon as you target an enemy, giving you instant feedback on whether your chosen attack or skill will work well.

Thumbs Up: Amped Attacks and Higher Ailment Chance

Effective

When a Thumbs Up icon appears over an enemy, it means they are weak to the action you’ve selected. Attacks in this state become amped up, dealing more damage than usual.

In addition, status ailments applied are much more likely to succeed!

Thumbs Down: Reduced Damage and Weakened Effects

Ineffective

A Thumbs Down icon signals that the selected action is partially resisted by the enemy. While the attack will still connect, it will deal less damage than normal. The chance to inflict status ailments is also reduced.

X Icon: Complete Immunity to the Selected Action

XX

An X icon indicates that the enemy is completely immune to the chosen action.

Status ailments will never succeed against enemies showing an X icon, no matter how strong the skill is.
