Set party member's tactics to Follow Orders to control them during battle in Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined (DQ7). Read on to learn how to control party members and how to get more members.
How to Control Party Members
Get Characters to Follow Orders in The Tactics Menu
You can take control of a character's actions in combat by changing their commands in the Tactics menu. While engaging in battle, open the Tactics menu and change party members' tactics to Follow Orders to be able to manually control them in battle.
Control Party Members During Combat
During combat, you will have the chance to choose what a party member does during their turn. You can choose between four actions: Attack, Skills, Items, and Defend.
Attack will deal physical damage to the enemy. Skills allows you to use special actions which use MP. These actions range between Magic Attacks, Buffs, Debuffs, and Healing. Items will let you use an item from your inventory during battle. Defend raises your defense slightly for one turn and lets you take less damage from an attack.

How to Get More Party Members
Play Through The Story
You will naturally gain Party Members as you progress through the game's story. You can only have 4 party members active at a time during combat, so if you have more than four characters recruited, you will have to swap them during and in-between battles.
