After picking up the kid i just jumped over the northen wall and hid in the bushes by the water until the guard that saw me by accident gave up. Was a lot easier then trying to time the guards by one of the gates.

"You can use smoke bombs while carrying the informant" This is just straight up not true, unless there's some super secret input I don't know about.

>>1 I'll add: by the "North gate" mentioned above, I think they mean the East gate. It's wider but you have to get by a lot of guards, so you kind of have to time it up right or you'll get jabbed and lose the kid. Still have to just outrun guards, but definitely possible. I also tried using the merchant coin and following them out, but you can't hide in the while carrying someone. :(

The recommended escape route going through the North gate doesn't exist. It's either East or West. I'd recommend carry the kid through the window West, up the stairs to the South, and head West again toward the North corner. Run off the plank onto a beam and down the crates. Might be possible to do it this way undetected, but I kept getting caught and restarting. Eventually gave up and just ran for it. They don't chase for long.
