Mirage Has the Same Modern and Historical Protagonist

Assassin
Unlike other Assassin's Creed games, Mirage has the same historical and present-day character. In previous games, present-day characters relive their distant ancestor's lives via genetic memory.

In Mirage, Basim is both the historical and present-day protagonist thanks to his resurrection at the end of Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Basim will now relieve the memories of his younger self, hoping to find proof that his children have survived the Great Catastrophe.

When Does Mirage Take Place?

The Third Chronological Assassin's Creed Game

Assassin
Assassin's Creed Mirage's story is the third in the series' timeline, 909 years after Assassin's Creed Origins which was set in 49 BC.

This makes Mirage a prequel to Assassin's Creed Valhalla, taking place 12 years before the events of the previous game and will have players take on the role of a younger Basim in 9th Century Baghdad before he makes his way to Norway.

Basim is the Main Character of Mirage

Blood From a Stone - Punching Sigurd and Basim

Basim Ibn Is'haq first appeared in Assassin's Creed Valhalla as a Hidden One mentor to Eivor, who is eventually revealed as the reincarnation of the Isu Loki and serves as primary antagonist during the game's later chapters, and eventually becoming the final boss of the main game.

The Latest Game in the Modern Day Setting

Although Assassin's Creed Mirage is the third chronological game in the series, the modern day sections of the game are the most current in the series, featuring a reincarnated Basim within the modern day sections and taking over the role of Layla Hassan from the previous games.
