This tool releases a cloud of smoke that obscures enemy vision, allowing you to break away from chasing guards or use them offensively to take assassinate enemies in the middle of a crowd!
Unlock the Blowdart as the Second Tool

Unlock the Blowdart as your second tool as you can use it to quickly assassinate asleep enemies. Asleep enemies function the same way as knocked down enemies so you can instantly kill them.
You can also use this tool to distract enemies. If another enemy finds a sleeping enemy, they will move away from their area or patrol route to investigate. This allows you to slip past them unseen.
In addtion, a Blowdart is required to complete the missable You Snooze, You Lose achievement. This achivement requires you to pickpocket a sleeping guard.
Unlock the Trap as the Third Tool

The trap functions the same way as the smoke bomb as you can use it to quickly escape from combat. Other upgrade options allow you to use it as a remote bomb that detonates by whistling.
Unlock the Noisemaker as the Fourth Tool

The Noisemaker lets you redirect an enemy's attention to a specific area. You can use it as a distraction opportunity to access heavily guarded areas and restricted areas.

The Throwing Knife is the first combat tool you'll unlock in the game and is arguably the most versatile tool in Basim's arsenal.
This tool allows you to assassinate enemies in range, as well as interact with environmental objects such as cutting the ropes of overhanging crates to crush enemies underneath.
We recommend investing in the Sharp Blade upgrade as soon as you can to increase your damage with this tool.
Upgrade the Smoke Bomb Next

The following upgrades for the Smoke Bomb turns the tool into a way to escape from combat without being seen.
Silent Blast prevents the tool from making noise so it will not draw attention from enemies not caught in the smoke.
Mindwipe causes guards in the smoke to forget they saw Basim, allowing you to slip away and break their line of sight.
Upgrade the Blowdart as the Third Tool

The upgrades for the Blowdart turns it into a lethal distraction tool that also lets you eliminate enemies without engaging in combat.
The way this works is through the Berserker Dart and Cloud Impact upgrades which turns the berserk state into an area of effect that affects surrounding enemies.
Upgrade the Trap as the Fourth Tool

The following upgrades for the Trap turns it into a combat tool that lets you knock enemies down at a crucial moment.
The Lingering Knockdown upgrade knocks down enemies that are within the trap's explosion area. Knocked down enemies can then be instantly killed.
Upgrade the Noisemaker as the Fifth Tool

The upgrades for the Noisemaker adds a lethal aspect to a tool primarily used as a distraction.
The Sparks upgrade turns the tool into an incediary device, allowing you to inflict fire damage to enemies. While Shockwave dazes all targets inside the Noisemaker's explosion range.
When Can You Unlock New Tools?
Complete the Old Wounds Main Quest
You can unlock a new tool after finishing the Old Wounds main quest. After assassinating Al-Ghul and reuniting with Nehal in Abnar, return to the Harbiyah Bureau and Abu Jafar will allow you to pick 1 new tool.
When Can You Upgrade Tools?
Complete the Zeroing In Main Quest
You can start upgrading tools after completing the quest Zeroing In which requires you to investigate 3 leads regarding Ali Ibn Muhammad's capture.
Once you return to the Harbiyah Bureau, you can speak with Abu Jafar to upgrade your tools.
