The book Al-Tabari: Tafsir of al-Tabari is located underneath the Nestorian Monastery. The stairs leading to the basement are marked on the map. You can use the Monastery Viewpoint if it doesn't automatically appear on your map.

Pull all stacks of boxes to clear path of maze

In the maze, you'll encounter 3 stacks of boxes blocking your path. Simply pull all of them to gain access to the path that leads to the book.

The book Kalila wa-Dimna can be found inside a house west of the Great Mosque in Harbiyah.

Climb into house and explode red vase to obtain book

The door to the house will be barred from the inside. However, there is a window right above the door that you can climb into to get into the second floor. From the second floor, go down the stairs and use a throwing knife through the bars on a red explosive vase in order to make the barred door from earlier passable.

The book Al-Kwarizmi: Al-Jabr can be found in a house west of the Observatory in Abbasiyah. The house's entrance is boarded up but you can destroy it with your sword. Head inside, then pull the bookshelf backward to make a path up the stairs. The book is on a table in the second floor.

The Banu Musa: Book of Ingenious Devices lost book can be found in a house by the dock west of the Sharqiyah Harbor Camp in Karkh. The house has a barred door on the first floor and there's a boarded-up window above it.

Use throwing knives on boarded-up window

Head over to the other side of the house to see a barred window, which you can use throwing knives through to break the boarded-up window. Parkour back to the now-opened window to get into the second floor, where the lost book can be found on a table.

The lost book Suleiman al-Tajir: Accounts of China and India is found on the second floor of the Tuesday Market Restricted Area. You'll encounter multiple enemies on patrol here, so come prepared to sneak or fight your way through.

The Kitab al-Azif lost book is found exactly in the Seleucia-on-the-Tigris ruins in the marshlands of Wilderness East.

Note that this Lost Book does not show up in your map even after synchronizing the nearby viewpoint or after purchasing a Lost Book Map from the Cartographer. In addition, the panel on the map only shows 1 Lost Book instead of two. This is likely caused by a bug.

Throw explosive vase to reveal Lost Book

You'll have to throw a red explosive vase from the elevated platform nearby to break the rocks the lost book is buried under.

The last Lost Book Al-Sikkit: Diwan Abu Nu'as can be obtained in a high-up room on the east side of the Palace of the Green Dome in Round City. However, this location only starts to become accessible from later in the game.

Skill Points Upon Picking up Lost Book

You get Skill Points upon picking up the Lost Book. Since there are 6 Lost Books you can get pretty much from the start of exploration, collecting Lost Books is a simple way to get Skill Points early.

Kitab al-Azif Rewards Monstrous Talisman

Upon returning the Kitab al-Azif to Al-Jahiz, he'll make a comment about how it's the Book of the Dead and he'll keep it for safekeeping. Al-Jahiz will then give you the Monstrous Talisman as a reward for that book specifically.

Scholar Favor Tokens for All Other Books

The reward for returning each Lost Book is a Scholar Favor Token. You can use Scholar Favor Tokens to distract guards with entertainers or to buy maps from cartographers. Collecting these is a simple way to bypass the need for pickpocketing tokens off NPCs later on.

You can return these Lost Books to Al-Jahiz in the House of Wisdom in Yasiriyah. He will reward you with Scholar Favor Tokens for returning each and every Lost Book.
