You can play Split Screen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) by connecting a second controller and signing into another Activision account on PlayStation or Xbox consoles. Read on to learn specific steps to playing split screen, and what game modes you can play Split Screen in.

Playing Split Screen in Modern Warfare 2 is similar to previous games in the franchise. Follow the method above to start playing with your friends. Keep in mind this *only applies to consoles; you cannot play Split Screen on PC.
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) campaign is strictly singleplayer only and cannot be played in split screen. There are no campaign co-op missions featured in the campaign that allow you to play with a friend.
For those looking for a couch co-op experience, Spec Ops is a game mode where split screen Player vs AI is available. You'll be tasked with your duo to undertake missions involving gameplay objectives that fosters teamwork and cooperation.
Split Screen is only available for select Multiplayer modes. This means you can't use Split Screen in Free-for-All, Ground War, and Invasion.

Actually, split screen don't work either with the free mw2.0 or the mwII. The menu says "add a 2nd controller...'" but as soon you do it all options and game launchers are dimmed. PS5 with all updates installed (game and system).
