The Join Failed Different Version (or Status Savannah) is an error code that pops up whenever two players with different game versions are attempting to play or join a multiplayer match together. Read on to learn more about the Join Failed Different Version error and how to fix it!

Update Game Version

Steam
- Open the Steam launcher.
- On the bottom of the launcher window, you should see Downloads along with the number of games that needs updating.
- Check if Modern Warfare 2 is there and it should be automatically downloading should there be any updates.
Battle.Net
- Open the Battle.Net Launcher
- Select Modern Warfare 2 and Click on the Gear Icon found on the bottom left corner.
- In the drop-down menu, click on the Check for Updates option.
PlayStation
All games on the PlayStation should automatically download updates whenever you launch games. This means that Modern Warfare 2 should be updating to the latest version as soon you start the game.
If you want to manually check for updates, you can do so by doing the following:
- Hover over to the Modern Warfare 2 game application at PlayStation home menu.
- Press the Options button on your PlayStation controller.
- Select the Check for Updates option.
Xbox
- Press the Xbox button on your controller and go to My Games & Apps.
- Select See All and go to the Manage tab.
- Under Manage tab, go to Updates.
- You should then see all your games that needs updating including Modern Warfare 2.
Restart the Game
Restarting Modern Warfare 2 is a simple fix that checks if there are any available updates upon launching Modern Warfare 2. All updates that are recently released are server-side and you would have to manually restart the game in order for your client to download the latest game version.
