How to Fix Join Failed Different Version Error

Update Game Version

Steam Battle.Net PlayStation Xbox

Steam

  • Open the Steam launcher.
  • On the bottom of the launcher window, you should see Downloads along with the number of games that needs updating.
  • Check if Modern Warfare 2 is there and it should be automatically downloading should there be any updates.

Battle.Net

  • Open the Battle.Net Launcher
  • Select Modern Warfare 2 and Click on the Gear Icon found on the bottom left corner.
  • In the drop-down menu, click on the Check for Updates option.

PlayStation

All games on the PlayStation should automatically download updates whenever you launch games. This means that Modern Warfare 2 should be updating to the latest version as soon you start the game.

If you want to manually check for updates, you can do so by doing the following:

  • Hover over to the Modern Warfare 2 game application at PlayStation home menu.
  • Press the Options button on your PlayStation controller.

Xbox
