The first Warzone is still available to play in 2023 under the new title, Warzone Caldera. Read on to learn more about the details of Warzone Caldera and how to play it!

Warzone 2.0 - You Can Still Play Warzone 1

Warzone 1 is currently playable under a different name, Warzone Caldera and is available to download for free for those who previously played the first Warzone. For new players who want to try it out, they would have to buy Modern Warfare 2019 in order to download it.

It was relaunched last November 28, just a few weeks after the release of Warzone 2. Due to the release of Warzone 2, expect that Warzone Caldera will not be receiving consistent updates or developer support.

Warzone Caldera Gameplay Experiences

With the launch of Warzone Caldera, players should expect the following gameplay experiences:

  • Access to a standard Battle Royale playlist.
  • Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 Battle Pass and Store Bundles will not be available in the game.
  • Double XP tokens are not transferrable between Warzone Caldera and Warzone 2.
  • Rebirth and Fortune's Keep maps will not make an appearance.

How to Play Warzone Caldera

Requires Warzone 1 Playtime or Ownership of MW 2019

Warzone 2.0 - Warzone Caldera

Only Veteran Players who previously logged into Warzone 1 and those who purchased Modern Warfare 2019 would be able to download and play Warzone Caldera on Battle.Net, PlayStation, and Xbox platforms.

How to Download Warzone Caldera

  • Battle Net - Open the Battle.Net platform > Look for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (2019) > Select Install to download and install the game. (Requires 82GB free space)
  • PlayStation - Go to the PlayStation Store > Search for Call of Duty: Warzone > Download and Install the game. (Requires about 100 GB free space)
  • Xbox - Go to the Xbox Store > Search for Call of Duty: Warzone in the Featured section > Download and Install the game. (Requires about 98 GB free space)
