It is confirmed that Modern Warfare 2 (2022) is not a remake of the original MW2. Instead, it is a sequel to Modern Warfare (2019) - a reimagining of the original Modern Warfare series.

In this latest title, players will continue the story of Captain Price and the newly formed Task Force 141 as they attempt to thwart the plan of Major Hassan to retaliate after a US airstrike kills a foreign military general.

Task Force 141 will also go up against the Las Almas drug cartel, a group known for smuggling goods to Al-Qatala.

Returning Characters but Different Story

Captain John Price and Taskforce141 confirmed to return for Modern Warfare 2

The official twitter account of Call of Duty confirmed that characters that were part of the original Modern Warfare series will be returning for this entry in the franchise.

It is expected that key plot points from the first installment will carry over to Modern Warfare 2, expanding the storyline of Modern Warfare (2019).
