Get a Simple Key
First, make sure you have a Simple Key in your inventory. You’ll need it to open a gate in the Deep Docks, which is the only way to reach the Flintslate.
The Simple Key can be purchased in various locations. The easiest one to get is from the trader in the Marrow, who sells it for 500 Rosaries.
All Simple Key Locations and Where to Use
Head to the Deep Docks
Fast travel back to the Deep Docks and head toward the area that connects to Far Fields. Don’t go too far, as there’s a boss battle ahead.
Use the Lever to Open the Area Below
As you approach the arena, look for the sign pointing to a bench. It’s located just before the arena where you face Lace.
Use the Simple Key to Open the Gate
Save at the bench, as the section ahead can get dangerous. From the bench, open the nearby lever to reveal a path leading down. Continue exploring until you reach a locked gate, then use the Simple Key to unlock it.
Reach the Second Vertical Section
From here, continue moving right until you reach the second vertical section. Once there, keep ascending until you find a ledge on the left. Jump onto it, and you’ll find the Flintslate just ahead.
Use Swift Step to Bypass Enemies
At the other side of the gate, the section ahead is filled with dangerous enemies, so dashing is recommended to bypass them and avoid losing health. Make sure to use Swift Step at all costs to avoid facing these creatures directly.
How to Use Flintslate
Add Fire to Weapon Attacks and Silk Skills
Activating the effect of the Flintslate will coat Hornet's Needle with fire. Striking enemies with the enhanced Needle will deal a significant amount of damage, and apply a fire effect after some hits.
You can do this by equipping the Flintslate in a slot in any of your crests. However, this is a limited-time effect, and can only be used thrice before needing to be refreshed.
Fire Coating Applies to Silk Skills
Flintslate can be also used to add fire damage to Hornet’s Silk Skills. These can deal great damage, and work best with Silk Skills that deal multiple instances of damage.
