If you are able to use Cross Arts in battle, use the ones that deal damage to an enemy Digimon. The Cross Art: Strike is the recommended skill as it deals massive damage to 1 enemy.

Have Mostly Vaccine Digimon

Black King Numemon Surprise Encounter
Three of the suprirse encounter Digimon are Numemon variants and are of the Virus attribute. Having a Vaccine team helps with defeating them faster before they run away in battle.

If you encounter Digitamamon, use the Change command to switch to a Virus Digimon to take advantage of its weakness to that attribute.

Surprise Encounters are Random

Surprise encounters happen when a certain Digimon will appear and join the battle to fight alongside the enemy Digimon. The chance of encountering this is random.

Defeat the Surprise Digimon to Get Rare Items

When a surprise encounter Digimon appears in battle, focus on defeating it first before it flees. Doing so gives you rare items, such as USBs and Digi-Jewels, as a reward.

Make sure to turn off Auto-Battle as it is likely your Digimon will focus on attacking a different enemy instead of the surprise encounter Digimon.

They do not drop usbs, the only usbs you get are the 3 from Special Supplies Set dlc. Black King Numemon (Drops Talent Awakening Booster) Gold Numemon (Drops Friendship) Platinum Numemon (Drops Digi-Jewel) Digitamamon (Drops Immortal Egg; extremely rare)
