Card Battle Guide

Digimon Story Time Stranger Card Battle Guide
A guide on how to play the Card Battle minigame in Digimon Story Time Stranger. See the rules and tips to play Jogmon Ultimate Card Game (JUCG) minigame in this guide.

Card Battle Guide

Win Three Out of Five Rounds to Win the Match

The Jogmon Ultimate Card Game (JUCG) has five rounds for one match. The goal is to win three of out five rounds.

You start the game with 5 randomly picked cards from your deck and the player who goes first is also determined randomly.

Each Card Has an Attribute and Ranking

Every Jogmon card has an Attribute and a Ranking system that serves as its numerical strength.

For the Attribute, it uses a rock, paper, scissors game mechanic to show that Virus is weak to Vaccine, which is weak to Data.

The Ranking system serves as a way to determine which card is stronger. A card with a higher number beats a card with a lower number. However, a Rank 1 card beats a Rank 7 card.

How to Get Cards

Win Rounds to Get New Cards

You will receive a new card each time you win a single round in a match. This is the most recommended method to get new cards quickly as you do not need to use Yen to obtain them.

Here is a list showing how many cards you can get for each round:

  • 5 wins - 3 cards
  • 3-4 wins - 2 cards
  • 1-2 wins - 1 card
  • 0 wins - 0 cards

Find Card Battles Opponents on the Field

You can open the map to find Card Battle opponents on the field. Win the rounds to get a chance to obtain one of the cards they used in the battle.

Generate New Cards During the Battle

There is a chance that you can obtain a new card when a certain combination of cards are present in your hand. These include the following confirmed combinations:

  • 2 cards of the same Attribute
  • 2 cards of the same Generation (from In-Training I to Champion)

Buy from Card Shops

You can also buy cards from the shop in the back alley at Akihabara. You can use this method if there is a particular card you want to obtain as the cards you earn from winning rounds are random.

How to Unlock Card Battle Game

Complete A Vow Made on a Starry Sky

You unlock the Jogmon Ultimate Card Game (JUCG) after completing A Vow Made on a Starry Sky main quest.

Head outside of the base in Shinjuku and a cutscene will play of a boy handing the Jogmon Ultimate Card Game: Battle Set. This unlocks the card game, allowing you to battle with NPCs across the map.
