When using an Ascendant Floret, we recommend getting the next superboon if it fits the hero. If not, consider what stat your hero needs most.
The best IVs for Brave Byleth (M) are +Spd and -Res. As an Omnitank unit, Byleth's Spd is his most important stat, and should be invested into as much as possible.
His Res is his least important stat and can be safely taken as a bane as it won't impact any of his matchups.
We recommend a +Spd IV when merging Brave Byleth (M) up to +10 to ensure he keeps up with all the fast metagame units.

Brave Byleth's base kit already works well right out of the box. Emblem Eirika Ring grants a brave effect which leads to the most damage, but isn't necessary to have him excel.

Brave Byleth (M) is a close physical attacker (range = 1). Therefore, when not accounting for the Weapon Triangle, the amount of damage he deals will be equivalent to his Atk minus the foe's Def stat.

Brave Byleth (M)'s Sublime Creator has built-in Distant Counter and grants allies within 3 rows and 3 columns Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5, penalty neutralization, and 7 HP post-combat healing.
In combat, Sublime Creator neutralizes Byleth's stat penalties and grants Byleth up to Atk/Spd/Def/Res+14, up to +25 bonus true damage, up to +15 true damage reduction, another +15 true damage reduction on foe's triggered specials, and 7 HP post-combat healing.
More importantly, Sublime Creator enables the use of Sublime Heaven Style.
Sublime Creator is a powerful and complete weapon, given a large power budget by having multiple effects that modern weapons have and adding on an extra Style effect.
Brave Byleth (M)'s Sublime Heaven Style allows him to attack foes three spaces away, and he can only be counterattacked by melee Armored foes or if the foe has a Close or Distant Counter effect.
Sublime Heaven Style also grants Byleth a Preempt Pulse effect and grants him bonus true damage equal to 20% of his Atk whenever he is attacking a dragon or beast foe.
However, Sublime Heaven Style does have some slight drawbacks. Byleth cannot move through spaces within 3 spaces of foes with the 【Bulwark】 effect, and Sublime Heaven Style can only be used once every two turns.
Sublime Heaven Style is best saved for the right foe, as attacking from three spaces away is a huge benefit.
Brave Byleth (M)'s exclusive A skill Prof's Guidance grants 【Prof's Guidance】 and 【Null Follow-Up】 to himself and allies within 3 spaces at the start of each turn and each enemy phase.
【Prof's Guidance】 is a new status effect that doubles SP gain per action and grants the affected unit Atk/Spd/Def/Res+5, the Twin effect, and Special cooldown count -1 after combat.
In combat, Prof's Guidance grants Byleth Atk/Spd/Def/Res+9, +7 bonus true damage, +7 bonus true damage reduction, a 50% damage reduction piercing effect, and a Potent Follow-Up effect.
Prof's Guidance is another complete skill, granting bonus stats, true damage, true damage reduction, and other effects that all add up to make one powerful A skill that is always worth using. The bonus SP effect also makes Byleth the ideal hero to bring to game modes where farming is beneficial.

Brave Byleth (M) is yet another Sword Infantry Omnitank unit in a game filled with similar archetype units.
While he has his niches and strengths that make him stand out, notably Sublime Heaven Style, it may be difficult to find room for him on a team due to many other units fulfilling a similar role.
