Doug is a very good generalist in-game. He has Arts and Skills that allow him to take offense, defense and debuff support. This master-of-all-trades gameplay makes Doug quite flexible.
Doug will use Myopic Screen to cause the Blackout effect on enemies and blind them temporarily. Gravity Blast incites Topple, flipping the target upside-down, Pathogen Blast gives the target Virus, further debuffing them.
With Doug's Arts and weapons being Beam-type, Starlight Duster, Galactic Cataclysm, Starfall Rondo and Starfall Blade are the best options. He is then self-buffed and self-healed by Geolibrium.

Doug has a very reliable skillset that allows him to take advantage of most of his Arts or even boost his Overdrive. Inner Search, Knight's Soul or High Tension helps with TP or Potential stat boosting.
Aura Assault or Supreme Sword boosts Doug's capability with melee and aura damage. Stellar Entry will also help Doug when he is in a Skell and Beam Boost helps Doug's beam damage since his weapons are Beam-type.

Best Role During Combat
Jack-of-All Trades, Master of None
Doug has a very solid early-mid game presence as an all-around tank, offense and debuff choice. The game also motivates his use with his immediate availability starting with a higher level than even Cross.
Despite his flexible set of skills however, he suffers from a lack of specialization by late-game, causing him to lose viability since his kit has difficulty catching up with other characters like Alexa or Lin.
