Missable Characters
Lao Becomes Unplayable in Chapter 9

|
For story reasons, Lao becomes unplayable after Chapter 9. So it is not recommended to invest much time and resources in leveling him up and creating a build for him.
Missable Missions
A Painful Lesson Normal Mission
| Mission | Chapter | Description |
|---|---|---|
| City Saviors | Chapter 3 (Clear) | Indigens have built a nest in a cave near New LA. Go there and investigate. |
| A Painful Lesson | Chapter 3 (Clear) | The little suids you spared grew up and returned. Defeat them before the damage to New LA spreads. |
There will be a choice during the City Saviors mission whether to kill the Suids or not. If you choose to kill the Suids, the Normal Mission, A Painful Lesson becomes unavailable in your game.
Missable Gear
| Gear/Item | Cause of Disappearance |

| Sparkjet Rifle | Exclusive to the What the Skell?! mission and will be destroyed after the mission. |
| Unbreakable Sword | Can be refused during the The Unbreakable Sword with no other way to acquire. |
| Hundred Devil Sword | The weapon is lost if the player chose to Warn or refused the sword during the The Duel (Part IV) mission. |
Several weapons that are attached to specific missions can be missed or lost depending on player choice.
Missable Skell and Skell Parts
| Gear/Item | Cause of Disappearance |
|---|---|
| AS0115 Formula XT | Exclusive to the A Girl's Wings mission and is returned and lost after. |
| Caladar Skells and any associated weapons and augments. | Caladars and their unique drops only appear in specific missions and are therefore missable. |
| Busted Skell Armor | These parts can only be acquired from specific enemy skells before completing Chapter 4. |
Several skells and skell parts are exclusive to specific missions or can only be obtained in the earlier parts of the game.
All Points of No Return
Everything is Accessible Even After the Story
Xenoblade Chronicles X does not have any points of no return. Even after you complete the story, you can still freely explore the map and accomplish missions.
