This is a tier list of the best classes in Xenoblade Chronicles X Definitive Edition. See the tier list of the best classes in the game, as well as our explanation of why classes are placed in their respective tiers.

While you should definitely move on from Drifter in the early parts of the game to rank up other classes, it is still the best class to eventually go back to in late game.

The Drifter class allows you to equip any combination of weapons and skills that you have unlocked from other classes. In addition, it's the class that can equip the most number of skills.

S Tier - Best Class

Class Noteworthy Characteristics
Drifter ClassDrifter ・Most number of skill slots
・Can combine skills and weapons from other classes

Aside from having more skill slots than any other class, the ability to use all skills and weapons unlocked from other classes makes the Drifter class the most flexible as you can build it however you like in the later parts of the game.

However, make sure to move on from it and rank up other classes in early game as it won't be viable until you've unlocked and maxed other classes.

A Tier

Class Noteworthy Characteristics
Full Metal Jaguar ClassFull Metal Jaguar ・Has arts and skills that grants bonuses with a lower HP
・Can add a chance to life steal on melee auto-attacks.
Mastermind ClassMastermind ・Adds buffs to allies on its arsenal
・Focuses on debuffs and enemy control.
Galactic Knight ClassGalactic Knight ・Has HP recovery while in a Skell
・Has the ability to remove debuffs.

These are some of the best classes in the game due to their potential to one-hit enemies if they are built properly.

B Tier

Class Noteworthy Characteristics
Bastion Warrior ClassBastion Warrior ・Increases resistance to various damage types
・Increased defensive capabilities
・Can reflect physical attacks, add HP regen, and grants a barrier.
Duelist ClassDuelist ・Has the ability to add AoE on melee auto attacks, damaging nearby enemies.
Astral Crusader ClassAstral Crusader ・Has increased weapon range
・Is more effective against shocked enemies.

These classes have more skills slots than the ones in the lower tiers making them more viable in difficult fights and later parts of the game.

C Tier

Class Noteworthy Characteristics
Samurai Gunner ClassSamurai Gunner ・Arts and skills favor melee gameplay
・Adds bonuses to melee damage and physical resistances.
Shield Trooper ClassShield Trooper ・Grants a lot of resistances
・Focuses on toppling enemies, as well as bonuses to toppled foes.
Winged Viper ClassWinged Viper ・Improves damage-dealing abilities
・Adds HP recovery during combat.
Partisan Eagle ClassPartisan Eagle ・Has many ranged arts that inflict damage with a mix of buffs and debuffs as an added effect
・Versatile in combat with a skill that increases crit chance for ranged auto attacks and skills that improve melee attacks and combos.
Psycorruptor ClassPsycorruptor ・Skills focuses on inducing sleep effects and improves effectiveness of attacks against sleeping enemies
・Can control an enemy, turning it into an ally to fight for you.
Blast Fencer ClassBlast Fencer ・Has balanced offense and defense capabilities
・Deals a wide array of damage, including electric, beam, and ether.

Regardless of their capabilities, these classes are considered C-tier, ultimately, due to their limited 3 skill slots. The restriction puts a low ceiling on how powerful you can build the classes.

D Tier

Class Noteworthy Characteristics
Striker ClassStriker ・Majority of arts deal weapon damage with some having additional effects, such as Physical Res Down and Damage boosts
・Has an ability to reduce damage taken and have HP overtime at the cost of a weakened melee damage.
Commando ClassCommando ・Focuses on damage buffs, including damage boosts, crits, as well as enhanced evasion
・Skills grant boosts for both melee and ranged attacks.
Enforcer ClassEnforcer ・Arts and skills favor ranged attacks
・Has potential stat boosts to increase HP regen from Soul Voices and Arts
・Has potential to deal more damage using Tension Arts (arts with a TP cost).

Even worse than the C-tier classes, these classes are restricted to only 2 skill slots.
