Cross serves as the main character of Xenoblade Chronicles X and the Definitive Edition. They serve as the player's avatar in-game with their abilities and appearance being highly customizable.
Cross starts out with their own unique class, the Drifter. They will meet new characters, gain new classes, Skills, Arts, weapons and even their own Skells as the story progresses.
Note: Cross is the community-given name to the main character with their real name never being mentioned in-game.

Cross will use the weapons that are included with the class he chooses, but upon mastering the final tier of every class, Cross can mix-and-match his weapons.
This allows Cross to use Dual Guns with Longswords or Photon Sabers with Rayguns should the player choose to, allowing for better customization and optimization options.

Cross doesn't have any signature arts. He can equip signature arts of other characters after learning them through Affinity missions.

Cross is the most versatile character in the game as he/she can be customized in any way the players want that will suit their playstyles.
Best Characters Tier List

Cross is the protagnist of the game, meaning that you'll play as Cross all throughout the game. Cross cannot leave your party when choosing party members to do missions.
During character customization, you can change Cross's gender, voices, and even the name if you don't like being called Cross. You'll have the ability to change Cross' gender and appearance later as you progress the game.

Cross can change their class, allowing access to most of the arts and skills available. Signature Arts of other characters can be obtained upon finishing a character's affinity mission.
