It takes roughly 55–80 hours to finish the main story of Xenoblade Chronicles X: Definitive Edition and upwards of 250 hours for a completionist run. Read on to find out how long it takes to beat the game, what unlocks after finishing the game, and know the potential new content introduced in the Nintendo Switch Edition!
List of Contents
Coverage | Est. Completion |
---|---|
Main Story | 55-80 Hours |
Main Story + Side Quests | 85-130 Hours |
Completionist Run | 250+ Hours |
Original Version | 50-70 Hours |
With the addition of new missions, characters, and storylines, players can expect to log more hours playing the remaster. Chapter 13 is a fresh addition to the Definitive Edition, offering an extra 5–10 hours of gameplay to keep the adventure rolling.
Player experiences show that playtime can vary significantly, with some adventurers spending over 150 hours without even achieving 100% completion. This showcases the immense depth and replayability of the game, whether you're chasing side quests or exploring every inch of Mira.
New Features and Changes from the Wii U Version
Completing the main storyline of Xenoblade Chronicles X can take between 55 to 80 hours, depending on playstyle, exploration, and pacing. Each chapter is around 4 to 10 hours long.
All Chapters Guide (Story Missions)
If you choose to explore the world more fully and tackle side quests, you can expect to spend 85 to 130 hours completing the main story alongside the extra content available in the game.
For a completionist run, where you aim to finish all side quests, unlock all achievements, and explore every corner of the game, you’ll likely be spending over 250 hours.
The original version of Xenoblade Chronicles X could be completed in 50 to 70 hours for the main story, and could log players about 250 hours should they gun for a completionist run.
Unlike other entries in the Xenoblade series, Xenoblade Chronicles X does not have a traditional New Game+ mode, meaning you cannot restart the story while carrying over your progress.
However, after completing the game, you can continue exploring Mira, take on tougher enemies, and complete unfinished side quests.
After completing the main story, additional high-level missions become available, such as Elite Missions and Character-Specific Quests. Three Epilogue Missions: Cause and Effect, The Second Project Exodus, and Hero, will also become playable after the main story.
These missions provide new challenges, expand the game’s lore, and offer valuable rewards like powerful gear, rare materials, and Skell upgrades.
While Xenoblade Chronicles X offers a vast open world from the start, some areas become fully accessible only after completing the main story. These include The Oblivion, The Cypher, and expanded sections of Sylvalum, Noctilum, and Primordia.
These areas often feature high-level enemies, hidden treasures, and new environmental challenges that require stronger Skells or advanced upgrades.
Expect enhanced graphics and better performance on the Nintendo Switch. This includes sharper textures, smoother animations, and potentially faster load times, improving your overall gameplay experience.
There may be expanded or additional content, such as extra missions, storylines, or improved quest structures, that weren’t in the original game.
These additions could provide extra hours of gameplay and depth to the experience.
The Definitive Edition may also come with gameplay tweaks that streamline certain mechanics, improve the UI, or balance the combat system, which could lead to a more engaging and faster experience for both casual players and completionists.
