Finishing Chapter 6 will allow Vandham's advice to pop up, telling you to go see him to inquire for a Skell License.

Clear Proficiency Exams 1 to 8

Each proficiency exam will reward you with a Skell Licence Certificate, and getting all eight certificates will allow you to get your very own Skell Licence.

How to Use Skells

Use for Traversal

You can transform Skells to vehicles for quick traversals in the open world. You can run over smaller enemies to avoid battling them.

Unlock Flight After Completing A Girl's Wings

The Flight Module, which unlocks a Skell's ability to fly, can be obtained after clearing the mission, A Girl's Wings. This will be available after Chapter 9.

Use in Combat

Skells can also be used in combat, allowing you more access to skills, such as Overdrives.

How to Equip Skells

Use Blade Barracks Console

The Skell Garage is can be found at the Blade Barracks by interacting with the main console and selecting the Barracks Hangar option.

Register Skell to Assign to a Party Member

The only way a party member can ride a Skell is to associate the Skell to them first. However, note that the party member must be at least the same level as the Skell.

What are Skells?

Mountable Mechs

Skells are mech units that can be mounted, as long as you've obtained the license to pilot Skells. Skells can used for battle, equipping it with different weapons and armor like you would with your playable characters.

Skells can also transform into vehicles which allows you to traverse the open world faster. The ability to fly can be unlocked after Chapter 9, providing more traversal options.
