You can start Off the Record (Mechanical) by completing all the requirements listed above and then interacting with the Mission Control board in the Administrative District.
Do note that while you've completed all the unlock requirements for this Basic Mission, it is possible that it may not show up on the Mission Control board since the missions are random. You can reroll missions by hopping in and out of the Mission Control board.
Previously Unlocks After Chapter 3
In the original version of the game, this quest became available after completing Chapter 3: Builders of a Legacy.
However, in the Definitive Edition, where Field Skill Level requirements have been removed, Off the Record (Mechanical) now unlocks after completing Chapter 8 Walkthrough: The Gathering Storm instead.

| 1 | To start the Off the Record (Mechanical) basic mission, you must first clear Chapter 8. Accept the request at the BLADE Concourse terminal to officially start it. ▶ Chapter 8: The Gathering Storm |
| 2 |  This mission presents you with riddles to solve, and there are no quest markers or navigation aids. The first riddle states: "In nest behind rock at a primal lake, quiet lady's ichor thy lust will slake." This means you need to defeat the Tyrant Yelena, the Sequestered in Sylvalum. Yelena only spawns in the afternoon, so adjust your time accordingly. Fast travel to FN Site 120, then head northwest to East Janpath Plain to locate and defeat Yelena. ▶ How to Fast Travel |
| 3 |  The second riddle reads: "Soar deep into the skies and seek the forgotten land’s ultimate peak." Your objective is to discover Mount Edge Peak in Oblivia. Fast travel to Central Ibra Ravine and use your Skell equipped with a Flight Module to reach the highest peak of the mountain. |
| 4 |  The third riddle states: "Take this elevated corn to hand, atop the peaks of a delusional land." Travel to Delusians South Summit in Sylvalum to collect 4 Pale Maizes from the floating crystals. The fastest access point is FN Site 419 (if unlocked) or FN Site 417 as an alternative. The Pale Maizes are only available at night, so adjust your time accordingly. |
| 5 |  The final riddle says: "In suburban glory in a setting sun, the afflicted tell of what’s to come." Locate Solan at Ishmael Hills in the Residential District of New LA. He only appears between 17:00 and 19:00, so check your in-game clock. Speak to him to complete the mission. |
Where to Find Yelena, the Sequestered
Find Yelena, the Sequestered at East Janpath Plain
Yelena, the Sequestered is a Tyrant that appears at East Janpath Plain in Primordia and the closest fast travel point is FN Site 120.
Head northwest from there to find her. She only appears in the afternoon, so be sure to set your in-game time accordingly. If you’ve defeated Yelena before, you’ll need to do so again for this mission.

Where to Get Pale Maizes
Gather Pale Maizes at Delusians South Summit
Pale Maizes can be found inside floating crystals at Delusians South Summit in Sylvalum.
The quickest way to reach this area is via FN Site 419 if you’ve unlocked it, or FN Site 417 if you haven’t. These items can only be collected at night, so make sure to adjust your in-game time before heading out.
Mount Edge Peak Location
Near Central Ibra Ravine in Oblivia
Mount Edge Peak is located near the Central Ibra Ravine landmark in Oblivia.
It is the highest mountain in the area, and the only way to reach it is by using a Skell equipped with a Flight Module.
Solan Location (Mechanical)
Located Northwest From the Cathedral
Solan can be found northwest of the Cathedral landmark in the Residential District of New LA. He only appears in the evening , so set your in-game time accordingly to ensure he’s there when you arrive.
