From the main menu, head to the Weapons tab, then select Multiplayer Loadout. Choose which loadout you wish to edit, and here you will be able to access the Gunsmith for each weapon.
When in the Gunsmith, you can choose which of the ten attachments you wish to swap out. These attachments will change the effectiveness of your weapon and how it plays in game.
Gunsmith 2.0 Guide: Weapon Attachments Explained
If you want to use handguns as primary weapons, you can pair them with the Riot Shield to get some extra defense and survive getting shot from behind. Try to unlock the Riot Shield before using any handgun in the game as your main weapon to have a better combat experience.
You can also pair a handgun with a Sniper Rifle and use it if enemies want to take you out at close-range. Handguns with high fire rates usually work better with a Sniper Rifle, like P890, X12, and X13 Auto, as they can take out opponents quickly but accurately.
