How to Change Operator Skins

You can customize some Operators by selecting from preset skins in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 (MW2). Read on to learn about other Operator customization options and how to unlock them.

Certain Operators are Customizable

You can customize certain Operators in Modern Warfare 2. Currently, only two Operators in the base game edition are customizable - SPECGRU I and KORTAC I. You can expect more customization options for other Operators as content is released.

However, players who pre-ordered the Vault Edition will have access to the Red Team 141 Operator Pack, which includes exclusive sets for Ghost, Price, Soap, and Farah. If you want a change from the default sets of the other Operators, you can use these to add some color to your gameplay. Users who pre-ordered on PlayStation platforms will also have access to an exclusive Oni Operator Pack.

How to Customize Operators

You Can Only Customize Operators that Have Skins

You can select from preset skins for your Operators to change their look. However, you cannot change specific parts of their outfit. A Customize option will appear for Operators with skins.

Once you choose to customize an Operator, their available skin sets will appear. Select which one you prefer and that's what you'll be equipped with during matches.

How to Unlock Customization Options

Complete Challenges and Buy From the Store

Previous Call of Duty games required completing Missions and Challenges and purchasing new Skins to unlock more customization options. You can expect a similar process in Modern Warfare 2.

New Skins, Taunts, and Finishing Moves May be Released in the Future

While you can only select from preset skins at the moment, previous games in the franchise also had Operator Taunts and Finishing Moves as part of the Customization options. These may be released as updates arrive.
