Rye is a type of Crop in Manor Lords that can be unlocked by obtaining the Rye Cultivation upgrade in the Development skill tree. See how to get Rye and learn its advantage towards Wheat over lower fertility areas, as well as knowing how to use it when you expand your territory in Manor Lords!
List of Contents
Rye is a similar resource to Wheat in that it can be turned into Grain, which can then be used to produce Flour.
One advantage Rye has over Wheat is that Rye tends to have better fertility than Wheat in your settlements. This can allow you to take advantage of locations that have lower fertility, enabling you to produce Bread and add variation to your crops.

Rye can be harvested as a Crop in established Fields by unlocking the Rye Cultivation upgrade from the Farming section in the Development Skill Tree.
You will first need to unlock the Orchardry upgrade from the Farming section in order to gain access towards the Rye Cultivation upgrade.
Once the Rye Cultivation development is unlocked, you now have Rye as one of the crops you can plant in your field. It's best to plant it in the Spring Season, which you can check in the lower right section of your screen.

Rye is an alternative crop you can use to produce Grain in the Farmhouse.
After you've constructed a Farmhouse in your settlement, you will be able to convert Rye into Grain. If Grain is not being produced, make sure to increase the threshing priority.
You can also use the converted Grain from your Farmhouse to create Flour, which can be produced by constructing Windmills in your settlement.
From there, convert your Flour into Bread by constructing a Communal Oven or Bakery Extension. Producing Bread will allow you to add variety to your food supply.
A Bakery Extension will require you to level up your Burgage Plots to Level 2 in order to be constructed. Once the extension is built, all Settlers working on the workshop will be converted into Artisans.
